Hi there,

Just wondering if someone can give me some feedback on this product, I have just been on the website reading about this little beauty looks pretty cool to me. Is there any users out there?? I am currently using sx 2 and not sure about the upgrade to 3 as yet, how does this compare to sx??

Any feedback would be great to help me make my mind up :D

Thanks

I don't know anyone who is using it yet. Is it released in the US at this point? It does look really nice though, alhtough I've always thought Samplitude was a well designed and rather powerful application. Seems to be some definite improvements here in the latest version.

I downloaded the demo. I think I will finally update from Samp Studio 6 to Classic8. Classic now supports vsti (only 8 vsti though) and rewire. With native vst support, this is a very worthwhile upgrade for me.

Samplitude is great for audio. I haven't used it enough for midi to decide on that. Certainly it doesn't seem as smooth or easy or fast for midi editing as something like Project5 or Muzys.

Thanks for the replies chaps, just wondering how it would compare to sx, maybe have to wait a while for some reviews? certainly looks a sexy piece of kit to me

Hi,

Samplitude has an overall better sound quality than Cubase, mainly because of the decent effects, for example you get a impulse reverb with 500MB high-end impulses, but eq and compressor are also much better, too...

..but it´s main use is for audio-sequencing...the midi functions are very simple and have many bugs, like the support for vst-plugins...

I was ready to shell out for V8 but discovered that the Software FX monitoring is unusable .I've been looking forward to this demo for a long time so I loaded up a track I've been working on previously in Logic and thought I'd try recording the vocalist I'm working with . We usually monitor with bit of reverb so I enabled Software FX Monitoring set punch in/out etc and hit record . Much to my disappointment I was hit with crackles and lost buffers and Asio errors . I tried ajusting the various buffer setting but to no avail and the track was even slowing down with some settings . I quickly made some excuses to him and opened up Logic again which played the song perfectly with software fx monitoring etc .

My god, Samplitude 8 is flaky as hell. When I try to rewire Project5, Sam will crash within minutes. Sequenced Reaktor synths won't sync. Two tracks of vsti and an attempt to add another vsti crashed Samplitude. Seriously, does anyone actually use this for midi sequencing of softsynths? I could forgive the flaky midi, but if I can't even rewire the damn thing...

RIGHT.

THIS SHIT OF SOFTWARE crashes all the time. And it quits without notifying you about what's happened...

This was now my 3rd serious try to test this software in different versions and situations.

It was not even possible to test all the new functionality without getting a total crash all minutes on really simple interactions, like opening a dialog or calling a standard function.

This is the case since years now. No other host I ever tested (and this are nearly all available) had such behaviour!

It did't work on Win 2000 nor on XP nor on different stability-proven systems. Not version 6, nor 7 nor version 8.

I personally believe very strongly, that actually nobody really can ever work with this piece of hack in a real production environment. Not even hobbyists without loosing the projects all the time!

For me it is definately VAPOUR-WARE!

All claimers "the best audio sequencer ever" proven wrong finally. :x

IMO it sounds very good (even exluding the internal fx) BUT its GUI sucks and btw, the demo hasnt got the very talken about analog fx...

The coolest feature is the object concept... freeze different audio parts with individual FX on the same track. cool...

snap still sucks after trying the v8 demo.
it's snap to bars, beats, or nothing.
useless for dance composers.
..i use it to arrange and mix audioloops (i make dance music) i created with Live 4 or P5 and it works great for this purpose...:) snap to grid works fine for me, too and you can change pattern lenght easily

it also has a remix agent which cuts complete songs into pattern automatically...:)

and Analogue Modelling Suite rocks, much better than Waves Rennaisance stuff... :)

i don´t use it for vsti and midi...:P

Sequenced Reaktor synths won't sync
VST delays seem to sync to host tempo but it seems there is no sync to tempo changes .

This is what I'm interested in using it for (that's what I currently use v6 for). I thought it would be nice to upgrade to get the native vst hosting and rewire capabilities. Currently, dx plugins crash quite often in Samp v6. But what's the point in upgrading if the two big draws(vsti and rewire) don't work. I seriously don't get it, how can they put out this software in its current state? Who would pay $900 and not be mad as hell?

Well I thought I'd try out Rewire and VSTi with the V8.01 demo . I got it up and running pretty fast with Fruity Loops and Acid Pro 5 running as rewire slaves then added Mtron and a B4 plus 2 Crystal impros while looping Acid and FLS .Then I recorded some live bass. Ran it for about 20mins and it didn't crash. CPU running at about 65-70% on P4 3.0ghz . Not bad for their first attempt at rewire .
