Okay, so a while ago I mentioned the dry guitar soundfont that I'm working on. Well, I finished some of the main sounds for it and got the soundfont working, so I decided to upload some demos to show it off:

Oh, and it doesn't need distortion in order to sound good, either:

And that's all being played live through a keyboard, no touching up later, etc. Next I'm going to be adding all the bells and whistles -- extra cool stuff -- like fret noises and stuff like that.

Again, this is sort of a rough demonstration -- there's a lot of fine-tuning I need to do.

Wicked! Non-guitarists are gonna love this one.

Are these going to be free? the last two are very good imo, especially as you say they have nothing else added.

Best regards,

Yes, it is indeed free.

Just to clear some things up just in case there was a misunderstanding, the guitar soundfont is completely dry. I plugged my guitar into the computer and sampled it, no effects, no EQ -- nothing. This is cool, because you can add your own effects later (I used Amplitube in the demos). The result is you get an extremely flexible guitar sound.

So this soundfont is for people who are tired of having the effects built into the soundfont and want to use their own.

EDIT:

By the way: http://herculeaneffort.adventuredevelop ... rdemo4.mp3

(made more progress on the soundfont this evening)

Well as a demo for the sound font, that’s one thing (which is cool) but as a bit of music in its own right – this is great, love it. lead guitar demo 4 – This should be made into a track – it ended too soon.

Best regards,

Peter

It sounds good.

I hope you are going to do the other pick-up and the pick-up combination. Even when I was still playing guitar I used the neck and 2-pickup combination more than the bridge pick-up.

Okay, yeah, I hear what you're talking about. That's because for filesize reasons I didn't sample every fret. At the moment the soundfont is 38.5 megabytes.

You could always use some clever pitch-shifting to attempt to make up for that, but yes, good point.

I was considering doing different pickup combinations, but that's a whole lot more work -- like recreating the soundfont for each pickup setting. I figured you could probably try to simulate the pickup settings by using clever EQing, but certainly that won't sound as good.
