Final Reverb effect in Mastering?

Ok. I have a song good mixed.
Now, I only need the reverb effect for the final mix.
What do you recommend me? Which reverb effect program or plugin I MUST use?
Thanks.

None. Don't use reverb on your final mix. Ozone 3 has it built in, and admittedly, it's quite nice, but I ALWAYS turn it off.

Man, a Krimmy mix with reverb on it. We'd have to call it Mud City.Kriminal wrote:dmassive wrote: Now, I only need the reverb effect for the final mix.![]()

I have to admit that I'm usually guilty of putting FX on individual instrument tracks, tailoring the reverb, et. al., to the instrument itself. I rarely use a general mix reverb.
Yes, I end up with many instances of CPU hungry reverb, but . . . it's soooooo hard to change my ways!
That being said, the three reverbs I use most often are Waves RenVerb, Classic Reverb and Ambience.
If you do the mix reverb, make sure it's set up so that the bass frequencies don't get processed much, that's a sure recipe for mud.

It's good to be guilty. But this is a good reason to lean on bus mixes heavily though too. Aux sends ARE your friend.emdot_ambient wrote:I have to admit that I'm usually guilty of putting FX on individual instrument tracks, tailoring the reverb, et. al., to the instrument itself. Your bass-lovin' ways and reverb would not go together very well at all.

You may use but i recommend not use it on your master bus.
use it as a send Fx all wet no dry at all ,EQ the reverb send: roll off the bass and low mids ,boost a little high frequencies , to prevent any warbliness on the mix ,it got to stand firm.
Now you may had reverb to each track you create to place the instruments on the room.
the more reverb the more they sound farway the less creates a proximity FX (dry in your face vocals like it is fashionable today).
another common error it´s using reverb as an insert applying different rooms(ambiences) to each track.
Very hard to get rigth and in the end migth happen some odd mismatch: a dude singing on a stage, the guitar playing on a cathedral
and the drummer on a nice drum room cause the preset said so.
All the best.

I *always* use a tiny bit of reverb on the final mix, usually about 4% wet using the fruity reverb. It's probably not obvious but to me, tracks sound too artifical and 2-dimensional without it, even if the desired sound is to be completely dry of effects... just my two cents

Yeah - it's not that uncommon to put a smidge of reverb on the master, but I would think it really would have to be a very small amount.
I actually like Ambience as a reverb and it's donationware so you let your conscious determine the price.
I'm not experienced with alot of the good commercial reverbs but I think Ambience sounds really lovely (wow how technical are them words
).
Personally, I haven't used a reverb on the master channel very often. Mostly I find there isn't a need. However, if you need to be there for some reason, try Ambience.
