Awesome binaural effect

lol that's exactly the page i found whilst googling i was just a bit worried about the company that's all, but you've convinced me... good job i've got to go to work now else my card would be in my hand!!

i was just thinking, it'd be much more effective to simply play back say a synth line and move either the playback loudspeaker or, perhaps for more fun, your head, and record that via the binaural mics... there'd be a definite reduction in quality for sure, but it'd be much more convincing than using a shitty plugin like that one i just downloaded!


nuts i want one now.. and i could wear it in work too!

IF you Order the In-Ear Binaural Mics, and you want to record High SPL instruments i.e. drums--Be sure and get the LOW SENSETIVITY mics.

They are designed to handle higher spls.
Other wise if you're just going to record enviromental/ nature/ ambiant sounds the HIGH sensetivity will do.

Well Uhh....Yes, THEY GO INSIDE YOUR EARS !!

Try sticking an AKG C-12 in each ear..see how well that works!

As for sound quality, Absolutly Fantastic w/a Capital

Gotta DAT or MiniDisk Recorder?- Buy A set of these and make some recordings; Go to the Mall, Out to a Park, Down to the club/Pub or wear them playing your own guitar & singing.... Then go lay down close your eyes and be prepared to leave your body.

I am curious if this kind of effect is possible with impulse-response reverbs. Of course somebody has to first do the impulse-response with whatever this is effect is done.
Possibly with dummy head with mics inside the head?

Yea, that's why I'm impressed that everyone is saying they sound good. $70 for 2 regular mics generally wouldn't sound that impressive, let alone mics that are small enough to fit in your ear.
I'm still not going to believe it until I hear them


P.S. can you hear when youre wearing them? It would be ironic if you can't.

very nice and very easy to do ... just place two identical microphones the way you ears are and record left ear mike left and right ear mike on right - thats all .... its fun

I made impulse-response test and it works. I made short wav clips from mp3. Best results with short sounds. Original shakines can be heard through. Like I play snare sound and it sounds like somebody is shaking snare up and down and around me.

No, That is NOT binaural recording, That's Stereo Recording- which has quite a bit less to do w/HRTF.

The IN-Ear Placement of the Mic's allow you to record exactly as you would perceive sound in the real world. Including Horizontal movement.

You simply cannot get this w/ stereo Micing.

i tried that the other day too. it's good for panning, making stuff sound to one side without being simply levelled that way, but it wasn't too impressive for the ol' up-down axis... sorry christian! i'm sure it's gonna get some use for what it DOES do well here tho.

now to get me some of those in-ear mics!
