I thinking of buying Ableton live 4 tomorrow after being very impressed by the Demo , Doe's anybody know if it ships with a instruction Manual (paper one) or is the manual only in PDF format ? I couldn't seem to find any info on the box contents on abletons site.

I never found an answer to my question about Live:

What are the differences between teh Delta version of Live that ships with some M-Audio products, and the full version of Live?

If you buy the CD version, it comes with a printed manual. You can download the full version after you buy the CD version, so you can start playing right away, too.
You'll have fun :)

...the delta version is based on Live 2 and can only deal with 8 audio tracks, has no midi and no arranger view..but you can upgrade to Live 4 for 299.-, i think...

If I remember, the Delta version's based on an earlier version of Live (1.5 if I'm right). There's been tons of improvements since then such as clip envelopes, more effects and, of course, VSTi handling in Live 4.
I think you also have a limited amount of tracks, unlike the full version.
Oops-tkay beat me to it

Thanks! Also thanks EW.

It would have been wise for M-Audio to include something to explain the differences, lest a customer think that's all Live has to offer and not buy it.

I probably won't anyway. Happy with FLStudio and eXT.

Honestly, I think you'll find that you don't need a manual most of the time. I've looked at it twice in 2 months.

I've never looked in the manual... never used the tutorials either. Best sequencer ever! BEST SEQUENCER EVER!

Now if it could only get track freeze and better cpu usage, then I'd say 'best sequencer ever IMO'. But even with a fairly new, fast 3.2 P4, it can be a dog sometimes. Track freeze would be perfect.

I think I'll qualify that a bit with why I feel that way:

• Live has the Info view that you can call up anytime.
• There aren't a bunch of cryptic icons like in Sonar to remember.
• Basic functions aren't hidden or hard to figure out like Logic.
• Honestly, Live4 is missing a lot of the features that other DAWs have, so there isn't really as much to learn.
