How do you score a live gig? All of the good DnB concerts in dallas say "presented by Prototype Industries". Do I contact them to spin live? I have no Idea to get heard as a DJ. I have no idea who to contact. Do I try to talk to labels? I know nothing on the subject. Please help.

Work on a super-set; record it on tape; get your tape out there with the organizations. Call them, write them, walk up to them on the next party.I have no Idea to get heard as a DJ.
If they don't know about you; they'll not knock on your door. The first step here is to make your name known out there; if only it were as that 'guy that constantly is trying to contact us'.
I used to hire the DJ's for club-nights in the club I worked. And there were some DJ's that would call every now and then; send tapes and all that. Those were in the end usually the ones that got set up for an opening set at one point.
The trick is to get just annoyingly present enough to be noticed, but not overly annoying to get dismissed to the bin straight away.
It's a cruel world trying to make it as a DJ. But it's not an impenetratable world either. If you got the goods you'll get there; believe in yourself

Hire a club and put your own night on. Even if its a week-night it will get your name around and if you do a good job you can put it on your resume.

Yes, but what organizations? There aren't many clubs here as much as multi-use venues that are used to host events like the big DJ's coming to town. (for instance on this flyer. The DnB concert is held at a venue where Slipknot played a few years ago. Do I contact the organization that's "presenting" it? Do I send them a CD of me spinning?Mystahr wrote:Work on a super-set; record it on tape; get your tape out there with the organizations.
