So let me get it straight....

Sonik Synth 2 - The Synth
Studiophonik - The Band
Philharmonik - The Orchestra

Going to add a complete Ethnic library to your collection at some point to make the fourth? I'm trying to think what it would be called as you'd obviously want the "onik" in there somewhere. :hihi:

Other than that - I'm struggling to see what's missing because you're certainly covering all bases with a vengence.

It might seem expensive to buy all 3, but when you think about the amount of ground you're covering here I don't really think so.

And it's easy to round off your collection with bits and pieces if you want some more variation. ST2XL comes to mind as does the various Sonic Capsules.

eSoundz looks like it could well be a one-stop shop for people very soon for sample content.

Is everyone else beginning to get this feeling?

It's getting like that.

Most other gaps are filled by the other Expansion Tank series.

Hiphop/R&B/Dance loops? AMG has truckloads of them.
Trons? Mellozone has them.
World rhythm? Axe is dedicated to Brazillian percussion, and Pukka Masalah is dedicated to Asian and Indian percussion.
Pop horns? Check out Brit Horns, plus Sonic Reality are working on their own brass pack.

Hmm... I should get some of these.

Forever,

Kim.

SR/IK ethnic library instrument? Good idea and I hope it gets done, that would make op a comprehensive set. Sonik Planet?

Post

You never know. At the very least you can bet that SR has sampled almost every instrument in the world and you know that I love ethnic instruments so samples WILL be released one way or another. Specifics not announced yet.

In the meantime, Studiophonik and Philharmonik are turning out absolutely incredible. The three of them along with SampleTank 2 is the most powerful sound making composition system for music production that I can think of. Quite a set up those three would be. (and definitely my set up of coruse).

Sonik Planet sounds pretty cool actually. :D

Well I know that Monday I have Philharmonik on my Mind! :hihi:

And God knows if there were to be a big arse ethnic monster workstation I'd be in as well.

ST2XL sound upgrade is reasonably assured.

It's true that it would take ALOT of convincing to get me in the seat of Studiophonik.

But I have to say. SHIT HOT LINEUP Squids!

You must be so happy with the direction things are going in with Sonic Reality.

the next library shall be named ETHNIK

Post

Actually, the next library will be called "Beatnik," which is a library of fingersnaps, bongos, and sampled voices saying "Daddio". :o

A cool collection, that would be.

Are you also gonna Release Philharmonik modules?

String Section
Solo Strings
Chamber Strings
Orchestral Percussion
...

One thing, I'm kind of missing on the market is more choice for of small string sections, e.g. like VSL's chamber strings, but not that mighty.
You know, a string collection with enough expressions, suitable for pop/rock and that kind of music.
I find small sectios like
2x double bass
3x cello
4x viola
6x violins
more suitable for many styles of contemporary music, where I would not like to hear a full blown orchestra - you know what I mean.

Have you checked out Session Strings? It’s a moderately-priced 12-piece string section that sounds very nice:

Here’s a short mp3 demo:

www.vrsound.com also has some nice smaller string sections but they’re a bit pricier. Here’s a snippet of the violins:
