Hi,

Is anybody using Convo Boy with SONAR? I've found that you can load it up (I'm using SONAR 4), and it works fine - but after saving the SONAR file, and going back into it - SONAR crashes every time I try to open up the convo boy plug. I can open the SONAR file without convo boy (by holding the shift key) and add it back in - but the same thing will happen when I save the file.

Is anyone else seeing this?

I'm using the "paid for" version 1.05, SONAR 4, XP SP2, etc etc etc

I've put the "ExtraPluginBufs=128" line in AUD.INI, and that doesn't make any difference. (also tried 256 and 512)

Thanks for any info

John,

Do you know if you have the same problem either:

[1]With V1.03i or
[2]When the 'Auto Load' is checked in V1.05.

Note:

I don't expect the 'ExtraPluginBufs' to help here.
It may be more to do with the specifc VST wrapper and how it handles loading presets.

But, let's see if anyone else can shed some light.

Hi Paul,

It does exactly the samre thing with 1.03i and if you tick the "autoload" box (in 1.03 and in 1.05).

It's unusable like this, so we'll see if anyone else has it working with SONAR.

Hi John,

I don't have Sonar, so it's difficult to try for me. I tried with Cakewalk Plasma and the Spin Audio DX-VST Wrapper - I didn't have any problems.

If you can make sure your DX-VST Wrapper is up to date (may help).

There must be somebody out there using V1.03i in SONAR. The whole world and his/her brother downloaded Convo Boy :)

That's what I'm thinking. This is not a panic, I'm using SIR right now, and just decided to try convo boy - especially because I can load seperate L and R files (some of the Northern sounds impulses are mono L&R files). It worked great when I fooled around with it - I didn't think to save the file and go back into it.

I'm sure we'll work this out. The VST wrapper is super duper up to date, as we've just had a 4.02 patch last week or so, and I'm pretty sure that updated the VST adapter. I'll try SONAR support too.

I doubt it has to do with VST wrapper, as I'm successfully using version 1.03i (I think it's i) with Sonar 2.2 XL and the Cakewalk VST wrapper.

Did you try the Cakewalk Sonar forums?

The VST wrapper code has been updated since Sonar 2.2 (so you can't just assume there's no problem because an older version worked).

I agree you should post in the Sonar forum. Also might be worth trying the Spin audio wrapper.

Keep us posted.

I downloaded the VST wrapper about a month ago from Cakewalk. Is the one used in Sonar 4 a different version?

Probably the same version, but my point is even though it's the same version of wrapper, how it works with v2.2 may be different than with v4.0x. You may be absolutely right about it not being the wrapper, but unless you're using the same, well, exact setup as the original poster, it's hard to rule anything out as the source of the problem.

I'm sure we'll get an answer on this anyway shortly. :)

The VST wrapper just comes with SONAR 4 now (3 too I think) - so it's not a seperate thing. I'm taking heart in the fact that it works with SONAR 2.2. There can't be -that- much different. I don't think there's anything wrong with the adapter either, but maybe there is a setting that is wrong (it better not be the delay compensation button) ;)
I haven't tried the SONAR forum yet because I've seen a lot of "convo boy" activity over here, and I figured -someone- must be using SONAR with it.

Yes.

There was a zip file attached - check your firewall didn't eat it up.
