Oh -- musically special, you say? Nothing at all. The music I try to make is derivative of that I heard and enjoyed during my youthful formative years (roughly age eight through the present). Not a lot of innovation there.

Like Anne Elk, I have a theory: there's not enough conceptual space for everyone to be "special." By being unexceptional, I help to make the field less crowded for those of you who are able to show some special-ness.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I think a combination of my broad musical training and open mind make my music unique. I think if combine a wide range of influences into your music then you're onto a good thing. This wont guarentee a uniqe style, but it certainly cant thurt to try!

hmmm.... good question. most music is not really THAT original. Yet most big artist have that something that makes them just a little bit different.
I'm not great a subtleties

so I try to take elements from other styles and incorporate into the genre I'm working on. Like e.g. adding electronic bleeps in RnB, orchestral flavours in breakbeat or synth arps in nu metal. Of course, doing it too much and you end up in the "experimental" category. There's a fine line between being original and being weird.

Musically though, the one outstanding feature of my toonz is the complete lack of output for the last coupla years. Which I intend to rectify once my new laptop arrives..

im not special at all .. my music isn`t special either
my goal is to be non special .. i am specialized in being non special .. im a extremely conceited puppy just like all other musicians ... i believe i am actualy succeeding in being non special .. i`m just as special as the special people .. and just as ordinary as the ordinary people

I can't say I've reached the sound I'm looking for yet, even after 18 years. Though I'm getting closer. I know when I've done the right thing when I play something back and say 'where the f**k did that come from?'. I suspect that I'm working in a contrary vein to most people here (or possibly anywhere) in that I'm aiming for total impersonality and (probably vainly) objectivity in sound, a total expressionlessness that aims more at the subconscious/unconscious than at the heart or mind. I'm not trying to put myself into the sounds, but to take my 'self' out of the equation to the greatest degree possible.
