Hey guys. Is there a midi plugin that will expand midi CC data?
I am using a midi controller that outputs from 0 to 60, and I need it to output from 0 to 127. Is there a way to achieve this, in realtime?
Thanks for the help.
Andrés

The Data Mapping function in MIDI-OX should do the trick:

thanks for that. I considered it and will use it as last resource. I'll still look for a midi plugin so I can save it within the session. It'll also free me of using an extra application. Finally I found MidiOX a little complex for me.

Maybe you need some guidance how to use MidiOx. You don't have to put it IN your project. It changes the midi messages before they reach your host, so you only need it when recording the midi controller messages.cordura21 wrote:thanks for that. MidiOx reads the midi messages from your controller, changes them and sends it out on its own virtual midi port. In the host you record CC messages from the virtual port instead of the real port. After that is done you can close MidiOx because you already have the messages recorded.

I'm more floored by Andres controller only going from 1 to 60?
What type of controller is this Andre? You should be able to assign a certain wheel or knob to anything of the MIDI CC# Standard? The controller may have 60 in use, but there should be a way to change a few to send MIDI CC# 61 or 99 or 123 et al.
I'll be heartbroken if manufactures have run out on the MIDI Implementation Standard these days.

Hey. Actually, it's the brake pedal on a Microsoft Sidewinder Race Wheel game control. The game operates on a "split axis" scheme, asigning 0-60 to the brake, and 61-100 to the gas pedal.
I feed the joystick data into one of those joystick to midi applications, but it doesn't do any number conversion (like multiplying by 2 or something).
I can't install any control panel to modify it, they just won't work and Microsoft doesn't publish them (believe me, I did a lot of research about them).
My goal is to use it as a full range wah wah. Up to know I can only use it from 50% of the values up.

COOkie, do you know of any tutorial for MidiOx? I read the help file but still can't figure out how it works.C00kie wrote:Maybe you need some guidance how to use MidiOx.

I hope to get my joystick out tonight and see if I can make it work and write down how to...
Which program do you use to convert joystick to midi? I know there are about 4 of them, didn't test yet which one is best...

cordura, if you have an MFX-capable host (Cakewalk products, recent Cubase offerings), you could use my TenCrazy.com MFX CC Map plugin to scale the ranges.

Thanks! Seems that I'm getting closer.
My host is Cubase SX2. Looks like it needs an MX Wrapper or something. I tried to download it, but the link from Steinberg is broken.

I always hear that: seems they're not up to date with all their links. I'm on SONAR, so never had to find it myself. Keep poking around on the site to find the right link, I guess, or some kind soul might volunteer that info here (or maybe search the forum archives: I'm sure someone has mentioned it).cordura21 wrote:I tried to download it, but the link from Steinberg is broken.

thanks. I already found that one, but the links don't work anymore. I also went to the guys' webpage but I can't find the plugins either.
It looks like a sign to use Midi-OX, eh ;.) ?
I'd love to use it, but I don't even understand what it is, and the documentation doesn't help me very much.

well if you really want, pm me your email and I'll send you the nicfit plugin. I'm sure he wouldn't have a problem with it, they just go offline now and again due to his bandwidth getting used up. The thing is you would have to use it in every project you use the pedal/pedals on. Once you figure out midi-ox, all your CCs will be recorded full range, which is going to be much easier to work with in the long run.

ok. I'm gonna try to learn how to use Midi-OX tonight. I don't understand how the routing works at all, it looks like a dos console application to me. But anyways, I'll give it a try and see if I can nail it.
Thanks
