Yes.

There was a zip file attached - check your firewall didn't eat it up.
I think my ISP did! I changed my settings and sent you a personal mail re: trying again.

The VST wrapper code has been updated since Sonar 2.2 (so you can't just assume there's no problem because an older version worked).
I downloaded the VST wrapper about a month ago from Cakewalk. Is the one used in Sonar 4 a different version?
The VST adapter was updated for Sonar 4.02 (4.44 something...) but not the version you can find on the Cake web site... (4.43)

Exact same problem here. I'm using SONAR4 - Producer's Edition 4.02 - latest/greatest Cakewalk VST wrapper and 1.05(i?) registered version of ConvoBoy. SONAR crashes hard whenever I load a project w/ConvoBoy in it.

Project loads fine if I manually bypass ConvoBoy.

Is there a fix available?

Has anyone tried one of the other VST wrappers (I believe SpinAudio has a free one)? This would at least confirm or rule out the wrapper as the problem.

I just installed 1.05 of Convoboy, registered it, and set the latency to 46 ms. I am using some IR's ... and did some tracks using it, in SONAR 4, saved the project, exited Sonar, reloaded and reloaded the project....

I'm experiencing no problems at all.
Seems to work just fine for me.

In my AUD.INI I do have "ExtraPluginBuf=128" and ExtraStreamBuf=128" in case that matters.

Hmmmm...some have problems and some not.

Those that have been having problems could try editing the 'Convo_Boy.ini' file and setting the following:

Code: Select all

[FFT]
Buffer_Size=8192
[IR_Properties]
Max_Duration1=15
Max_Duration2=15
Max_Duration3=15
In case the IR that Convo Boy is trying to load on startup is larger than the latency setting allows, a message box will be produced. Apparently, some hosts don't like message boxes when they are loading plug-ins. By increasing the maximum length of IR per latency setting, the message box should not be invoked.

The default values can be reset by deleting the .ini file.

If this helps those that have a problem, I will know what to do in the next version.

By the way, there is an official Forum for Elevayta on KvR now - check it out.

I tried the convo_boy.ini settings and my ExtraStreamBuf= was already at 512, but it doesn't help.

what's ba_midi doing different to BC and I?

SONAR 4.02
XP SP2
Asus P4P800-E deluxe
P4 3.2 GHz
3GB RAM
etc etc

I don't know if that matters or not, but do you have an Hyperthreading processor and compatible motherboard - and if so, can you try turning OFF HT in your BIOS?

I've seen this affect a lot of people in many ways.

I tried disabling it - still does the same. That was a good one to try though.

One of the things I did (other than setting ExtraPluginBuf=128 and ExtraStreamsBuf=128 in Sonar - check actual spelling for those variables, I'm not at my DAW at the moment) was to set the Latency in Convoboy to 43ms.

SOME IR's will give a popup msg about length, but I adjust for those only.

Also - what is your sound card latency set to - and what is your I/O BUFFERS in Sonar (should be at least 256 imho).

Latency is 23ms and i/o buffers is 256. Convo boy crashes no matter what it's latency is.

The thing is - it loads fine, and works fine - until you save the SONAR file. Then you can't get back into the convo boy screen. The actual file opens fine - just don't try to use convo boy.....

John,

Can you tell me if the convolution is working after you open the SONAR file (and before you open the Convo Boy screen). i.e. re-open and just press play.

When you try and open Convo Boy after re-load, does the screen appear before crashing or do you never see the screen?

Did you try Convo Boy in another host on your PC?

Update here: changed the ConvoBoy.ini settings - SONAR still crashes when I open a project w/ConoBoy.
