You want important influences ?

Look no further than Thomas Tallis and his work "spem in alium"
i was about 15 or 16 when a music teacher first showed me the score to Spem in Alium - then played it. Even as a teenage brat i could see the genius of it.Thank you Mr Winwood wherever you are ;) i'm now a huge Tallis fan. Check out his very brief but beautiful "Misere Nostri" (available on the same CD if you get the Tallis Scholar's version of Spem).

Can't say it directly influences me, but as a complete non-believer i am still moved by this piece, and Tallis and Bach are probably the only people that come close to convincing me there has to be a God.

wow, influences - this could be a hefty list i suppose. i've always been into mainstream listening i guess.

from youngest to present (age-wise for me):

The Monkees (i actually own every album, not sure if i'm proud of that or not) but i used to watch the TV show when i was little so....

Whodini - first rap album i ever owned. i seriously played this in a "jam box" and carried it around the neighborhood.

Def Leppard - First rock album i ever owned. loved playing air guitar to this stuff.

Guns'n'Roses, Public Enemy, Bon Jovi, Ice-T, Motley Crue, Eazy-E, Metallica - basically anything to piss my parents off - kind of that young kid rebels music.

Garth Brooks, Joe Diffie, John Anderson, Brooks and Dunn, Clint Black - good god :-o i actually had a cuntry phase - well shit, i grew up in Kentucky, what do you expect.

Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Helmet, Green Day, STP - kind of my grunge/punk days i suppose

Pantera, Ozzy, White Zombie, more Metallica, Megadeth - got into more of the non-glam side of metal, something just to head bang too.

Today - everything really. Still stick to the heavier mainstream stuff - Plus that's what I write the most of now.
