I think the snares and toms in Drumkit From Hell 1 (DFH) are perfectly usable and very expressive if you map the hits creatively.
But for the life of me, I still cannot stomach the bass drums! They are either too "Lars Ulrich" clicky-sounding, or the only good one doesn't have enough hits to be expressive enough.
The hats kinda suck, too. The open ones are too wide open and, hence, sound too bright. The half closed ones aren't open enough. I know it sounds like I'm being picky, but it really bugs me.
So my question is this: Are their any good multisampled, FREE bass drums and hi-hats out there? Does anyone wanna share?
I have ns7 freekit, which is kind of an improvement, but I want to know if there is something better...for free, since I'm a cheapskate.
Thanks!

I have DFH2 myself and I route the kick to a seperate channel and put a sub-bass plug in on top of it. Then when i route all of the DFH channels through a croup channel and a compressor it all sounds pretty good. You can fix the hats by eqing the offending frequncies out.
