HI

How about if you want a VIRUS!

I don't think these cards will be out-dated by anything - I imagine you could still be using them in 10 years time, the computers that house them might become obsolete though!

The ability to use synths is what led me to choose the Poco - you now also have the V-Station, I would love to see a basic sampler or something similar.

For sure if you need something for more than mixing and mastering than the synths are a great plus for the Powercore but I prefer to buy an new AMD4000 64XP CPU and than I have enough CPU performance for my softsynths.

HI

I disagree, the whole point of a dsp card is to free up resources - it doesn't matter if it is an effect or a synth.

Running the Virus synth on a Poco will give you 64 note poly - you try getting that on any PC along with all your other sounds/fx - quite simply you won't.

You will also IMO miss probably the best softsynths around, you can't really compare the two cards when you consider that there are now 3 synths on the Poco, the UAD has none.

The killer for me though is I think the UAD is underpowered - according to the UAD site certain Plug-ins take up almost a 1/4 of the cards power.

The real problem though is that you have to rely on peoples opinions as there is no way to demo these things!

I would like a couple of each in MY pc  .

Porpoise.
