Yes yes, sorry for my bad english once more :P

Anyway this is interesting. My dad is one oooolllddd musician. He is not anything like pro. In youngest days he has a band and they rule in our country. Country music of course :) So he have some experience in instruments and know something about music. He played bass guitar in his band.

So anyway lets start.....when i was demoing Reason and FL, few instruments sound most weirdest (to me) from all in Reason. That is cymbals and various hats.

So today i load one 909 open hat sample in Reason adn in FL. Sample is from Wizoo Platinum24 - Electronic Drums. In case someone want to know sample can be found in Partition E\HIHAT MENU P1\909C46OHH5.wav

I did not change anything in volume. Just one shot and then export. Same in FL and in Reason.
Reason NN-XT, filters off, high quality interpolation on.

I Export wavs at 16-44. Load each in Wavelab and i did normalise both exported samples. So i call my dad and i told him that i will play one same instruments few times in intervals 8)

At this position i think that is important to say that my dad don know a frikin shit about computers and software 8)

Anyway i play him 4 times hat from FL5 and then 4 times from Reason. I ask him can he hear a difference. At this point he begin to look at me like i am stupid or something. Than he told me that i do play all sequence once again. After playing i ask him same. Can he hear a difference. Guess what? He tell me that this is not problem to hear and he think that one played interval has somewhat deeper and crisp sound(this goes to FL5) and second is like cheap hat to him.

I play him again all this few times and i told him that when he hear that cheapo hat he must put his arm in air. Believe it or not 9 from 9 times he guessed that cheapo hat sound exported from Reason.

Than i told him that i will show him frequency spectrum in 3D so he can see that this two samples is almost identical. Of course he told me that he dont know what is this 3D stuff and that this is not matter to him. He think that playing example sound like a branded hat(FL5) and other played example sound like a cheap hat. Almost same but it is "cheap". Excuse him for this metaphoric expressions but like i am saying he is not in computers. And he claim this regardless of what i show him on graph.

And to be honest i hear this too and that is way i ask him can he hear difference. My dad is in 51 year. Pretty old man with pretty old ear.

Any comment???

Of courseabout this ear test not about my dad :hihi:

51 is *old*?

I betcha he's got a FLIP (FL In-ear Plugin). It just looks like a hearing aid.

There's 3db difference between the two samples if you used Reason's mixer, and louder always sounds better. End of. There was recently a thread about this; I wonder how many more times we'll have this pointless topic posted? :?

Obviously you have an agenda to even bother to do this test, though. You FL Studio users should just get over your inferiority complex about Reason already...it's not the enemy, the biggest barrier to producing a good tune is you, otherwise you'd sound as good as Mylo (who uses Reason as his sound source). :)

I assure you, no complex here, true I'm an FL user but more important a guitar player. I use FL because I know it and it works for me. Anything else is user preference or user screw up, if you can't write something that sounds good I doubt reason is the answer and vice versa.

What' funny how long the real argument has been going on. It isn't about FL, Reason or anything other software. It's about validation and whether your equipment is "cool". I had this argument before half of you were born with my half brother because all he played was les pauls, and I had a tele and a later a jackson...then when I built my own it got worse. Seems in his world you're not a real guitar player without a les paul.

This same thing goes on all the time and frankly it's funny as hell. I don't give a damn if you like the software I use, the axes I play, or how I play...I don't even care if you like my music, I do and I'm the one whom's passion it is. That's all that really matters outside validation is welcome but not needed.

Signed one very proud FL user who doesn't feel inferior to anyone... :D

You can keep it. :P When it comes to workflow, I much prefer Renoise and Sonicbytes EST, personally. And that's the point - it's all personal preference really.
