I've got a problem when loading multisamples.

I map a multisample throughout the keyboard. The samples are quite near from each other, I mean, I've used A, C, and E notes in each octave so thyat the pitch and other characteristics of the sample work well.

BUT even so the sound of the sample changes drastically when changing the octave and sample. why? the samples are professional so they're supposed to be good aren't they? why this problem?

:D Are those multisamples set to stretch down? When I'm setting up a font and keymapping my sample limit is set to pitch and any streatching done is down. Depending on how close my samples are, example: A C3 root is set to upper limit c3 and streatched down to a2 or g2. Any upward streatching does tend to sound funny.

that is because in the example of a piano each note of the piano is different.

assigning a sample across a few semi-tones sounds passable . obviously they all sound the same more or less (speed and formants are different)

so obviously a C on the piano doesn't sound like E on the same. so why would it be the contrary with samples ?

and since assigning a sample to several note the recording will be altered by the pitch-shiting on your reach the E key it will obviously be a non-pitchshifter note

a much better approach is to have a piano sample at each and every note on the keyboard, so the sound is consistent...rather lifelike

when that is not possible , to my ear its much better to pitch-shift down a sample than the contrary. so C2 pitch shifted at B1 sounds better than C2 shifted to C#2

whatever "pro" samples it will always be like that just try running down octave on hardwareSound-Modules piano sounds (yuk!!!)
