Opinions, please. Is the MPEX in Cubase/SONAR outclassed by any plug-ins or other hosts' proprietary audio tools. I found Pitch 'n' Time to be excellent but it doesn't work as a plug and is quite pricey...

Celemony's Melodyne.

Unbelievable, they say.

(I'm still loving FL5's Elastic Audio functions though...)

Z-Plane Elastique in FL is awesome. Especially where theres a few different stretching options for drums, tonal, etc.

Third vote for the Z-Plane Elastique engine in FL Studio. Remarkable sound.

definately go grab the update (5.01 on tucows) and check it out. it's been incorperated into the sampler channels and the slicer.

Also, the Granualizer has had a nice overhaul as well with the release of FL5 and it uses Z-Plane Elastique as well so you can do some cool stuff with it. Very cool.

I wanted Melodyne for the longest time, but the desire has faded since I started using FL5. I find the time stretch in FL to produce very good results.
Play it by ear

Serato's Pitch n Time still unbeatable. But it for Protools only :(

Hi...try the demo of PSofts Chrono Stream...it's a standalone app and currently only uses MME driver(hopefully they can implement asio and a plug in version at some point)...go here... http://www.psoft.co.jp/audio/en/

Prosoniq's EZ timestretch is based on the TimeFactory algorithm - one of the finest I've heard based on MPEX

Well, since that thread requiure best quality - i wouln't mention my PitchWorks freeware :)(www.delaydots.com)
But once again, i think everybody should own more than one pitchshift plug-in. I have about 8 including new one (not released concept).
The problem of Serato - you have to load ProTools to do something and then get back to Sound Forge :)
