Frankly its a bit condescending to announce that "Genre X" is easy to do".
Apparently I was not clear enough :D
I mean that it is easy to do something that already exists. Then, programming synths, achieve tracks, mix and master, etc ... requires some knowledge and a lot of works (depending on the complexity the music style you try to copy). I was talking about trance as it it is the subject of the thread, but it is the same for every style of music ! It is "easy" to make metal - just buy a guitar and do some songs that are structured and sound the same than your favorite ones. Of course it is not easy to do - technically speaking - but it is easy - musically speaking. Do you see the point ?

Btw, I'm not a trance addict, so maybe these trance songs we are talking about are really good and maybe they have something "special" that distinguish them from any other trance song ever created, but for me they sound exactly as any other trance song I heard before.

They probably make a piss poor rythm/groove, uses presets that say "trance" on them etc. etc. so you all that say this can just go and f**k off. It takes serious effort and time to get a basic good groove going. Here's a little secret for you idiots that don't have a clue.. 1, 2, 3, 4, kick, doesn't make the groove, ok?

Cheers!

I agree. It's impossible to do trance well.

I might point out that mixing trance is no easy feat no matter what the equipment used.

In a typical busy trance track, you will have many arpeggios and other elements all fighting for space in the mix. The fact that this guy can make clean sounding trance mixes (with some very good drums i might add) just using buzz FX etc is very impressive.

What people forget is that buzz is can be used like a modular synth. Like in reason, some of the generators may sound thin out-of-the-box, but if you can layer up 5 and hardly hit the CPU then what's stopping you?

I'm certainly gonna give it a try again, if EnergyXT works within a wrapper then it'll be a great drum machine to complement buzz synths i reckon.

There was something i was supposed to do instead of spend all my time here. What was it again...

Oh yeah, my f**king dissertaion that'll make or break 5 years of university!!

I'll sidestep the tarnce debate.

Excuse my language, but go f**k yourself, you're a snob.

It sounds as good as any trance i've heard from any community artist or producer on the net, using any set of tools.

This is indeed very good stuff. Thanks for the link Quincy (now get back to your dissertation mate).

Anyone that says trance like this is easy to make has never tried to make trance. Its true that anyone can throw together a few pads and arpeggios and call it trance (I thought I could), but quality trance is not easy. If it was, KVR would be filled with stuff like this (made by the same kiddies that start the "which VST is best for makeing tarnce???" threads).
And all life's fears
Can invade my ears
I can handle it

Anytime you want to prove yourself just post some of your music which is obviously so much better than this blokes music.

Until then, can it.

Go get a copy of buzz and prove what a smart man you are, go on go for it. I think once you have a try you'll appreciate the skill that went into these.

Hehehe...I can see from this page,to agree with hlmst about the sound will not make me popular....but...listening to these trance cuts,I do hear what he means.
I played around a bit with buzz yrs ago,(and some similar "sounding" hosts as well).
There is something about that sound I remembered from yrs before.
It has like a natural cap on the dynamics...like an over compression sound.
"MakingWaves"sounds like this also.
It may not be a bad thing...I just believe it is like this.
Buzz is all freeware still...wow...that`s just incredable!

I have a better sounding host...i`m going to stay with it.
Can`t say anything bad about buzz though.
