VST filter effect with character

If you were to run audio from a HW synth through a VST filter effect to give the signal much more character, which effect would be your favourite for the job? (Just interested in filters, not other effects).

PSP Nitro. It is the most professional sounding filter IMO and so much character. It reaaly comes through the mix nicely

Yeah, I'd go with Nitro or Filterscape.
Here's a KVR thread on Nitro you may want to check out:

yep another vote for the NITRO, it is so good sounding, I love it.
and maybe the U-HE Filterscape can be a great one when it comes for PC. So I had no chance to try it yet.
and for sure the quadfromage.
but all the others are only toys compared to these.
No offense meant

Great! Thanks guys! BTW, does the free Frohmage have the same sound/character as the Quad Frohmage, just that it's one filter instead of mutliple?
I'm very happy to hear that Nitro has great filters. I recently bought it, but haven't had much time to play with it yet. I'll certainly start there!

Quad has much more filter types than Frohmage. Quad all the way!
(reFX's free filter sounds good as well)
Filterscape seems to be quite interesting too.
*I personally dislike Antares Filter a lot...the weakest filter I've ever heard. A great effect nevertheless.

My vote would be for the Nitro as the most versatile/best sounding dedicated filter plug I've yet come across.
However, you want (even more) character? I've really got into using the MS20FX (from KLC) for my filtery needs. Feed the output back into itself, fiddle with the knobs in the ESP section, fiddle with the knobs in the filter section and OMG!

I'm very interested in a Nitro group buy. I searched the forum for the subject but found some old messages and a few "thanks to OceanZen".esl wrote:Nitro....
Shout out to Oceanzen for the group buy!
Can anyone please give the directions to participate (if it is not over yet...)?
Thanks,
Boin
