I did play a Moog duophonic and an Arp 2600 in universtiy...back in the mid 80's. Recorded onto Scully 4 tracks an mixed down to a Fostex 2 track. We had splicing blocks and everything. The work is a lot easier now with a PC. :)

New Order's Substance isn't electronica, it's pop. Great pop. What's good about it isn't its electronica-ness, but it's pop-ness. However, if I'm wrong about that, it qualifies as my personal "most influential...". If not, it would probably be A Guy Called Gerald's Black Secret Technology. I still can't help tapping breakbeats with my fingers whenever I'm waiting for something.

Apart from all the usual esoteric suspects already mentioned, the albums that inspired me most in the electronic area must be Prince's Sign o' the times and Madonna's Ray of light.
