limiter help

Hi.

I have used a limiter on my latest track and was wondering about some things.

There is a threashold setting but I'm not sure what it does on a limiter.
How can you tell what threashold to go by or is it just done by using your ears?

I have used 5.8 .

Consider it as an invert of gain compensate.

I got it wrong before, I should have said ratio not threshold.

But I think I now understand, its a way of lowering or raising the "celing". The default setting seemed to produce some noise/clipping and that was on 1!
