Any thoughts/opinions on Adobe Audition?

I love it; it's my main sequencer these days, but I would really like to see support for full VST automation at some point..

A very good program,i've owned it since pretty much the beginning. However i still like to turn to a vst host after finishing a mix(mainly for synth work, or sammpler stuff) , the only drawback i can see is it doesn't suit my immediate needs i.e. takes a lot of fiddlin and sometimes if you don't realise what you've what you have saved , (specially with CEloops you can end up with something you didn't save) f**k that....... i've pretty much totally left it for cubase , only when i have to mmix a friend do i use it any more, otherwise i find it dark age like .
Don't get me wrong though you will get great results if you use it correctly and tr4ial or error will tell you if it is the proggy for you. I suggest traktion instead, much more user friendly and self explanotory,,,,IMO
Thats just me though . I know people who swesr by it.
(My Singer for example thinks Cubase is shit) the filthy peasant

I think it's brilliant as an editor, but I wouldn't want to mult-track with it. That's just personal preference. I haven't shelled out for it yet, but I'm still on the fully-functional 30-day trial, and I've opened it up to edit files at least once per project.
Good noise reduction, dynamics, timestretch (well, better than Tracktion's, which doesn't take much), and other useful tools. Sample-accurate waveform editing....
Once my 30-day trial is up, I'll be hard pressed to do without it. Still, if I had to choose between Audition and Tracktion only (ie. not in conjunction), I'd stick to Tracktion.

uhm my Audition is an audio app with limited midi and 1.5 supports vst. I don't really care a whole lot about the asio, my card has direct monitoring so latency isn't an issue. I use mine as my multi-tracker and FL is my sequencer. I can also use AA as my wave editor in FL...I'm quite pleased with AA...Sicklecell666 wrote:I love it; it's my main sequencer these days, but I would really like to see support for full VST automation at some point..
The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

For final mastering after streaming your track, it's a brilliant programme imo.
Although only on a couple of occasions have I used it to actually create a track on it's own.
I use the multi-track facility quite a lot for either making a mix of my tracks (or any tracks if it comes to that) and putting together radio packages - ads, news, stings, stabs, documentaries, pre-records that require beds etc.
I love the programme and would rather be boiled alive in acid (not the corrosive kind
) than be parted from it.

coming from the years of learn from developing hardware machines starting with tape I find AA a great multi tracker. I can render to seperate tracks from FL and batch import to AA. Then I do guitar parts. What I like is how you can create blocks in the tracks and when recording it will only record in the blocks. To do this just go to edit view and generate silence and send it to the multi view. Then use split and remove clip to precisely have the blocks where you want. For final mastering after streaming your track, it's a brilliant programme imo.

So how is this cool? Arm several tracks for recording and create blocks for verses, choruses and bridges in different tracks. Then when you hit record when it comes to the verse it will record on the verse track, when you reach the chorus it will record on the chorus track and so on. Use this with loop recording and multiple takes then you can swap in and out takes for each part and transition points will be as consistant as your playing. I love this for vocals...

what don't you like the effects? Or do you not have 1.5 with vst support? The rack set up is great, you can choose serial or parallel patching and it even has it's own version of freeze (lock)....I'm not sure what could better, at least not in that price range...Montana wrote:great audio multitracking- Poor effects implementation-Not a midi app in reality - great mastering tool.

Do you or any AA users believe that the effects included are good enough for mastering? Are the effects on par with say Ozone or T-Racks? I tried the demo of it but really didn't get to spend a whole lot of time using it before the trial period ended. I use FL Studio soley for composing/audio recording and I'm hesitant to use anything else. So what I was wondering what AA could do for me as far as improving my mixes. I'm not really interested in the other things it includes i.e. video support, cd burning, pitch correction. Thanks.Glassback wrote:For final mastering after streaming your track, it's a brilliant programme imo.

I just started using Audition. I used to use Acid and I like it much better. I find it more user friendly and the WAV editing is much easier for me.
I also use a separate sequencer for VSTs, FL Studio 5. I think it's better to use different programs according to their strengths or friendlier interfaces.
(P.S. Holy Crap, Absynth 3!!!!!!!!!!!! Amazing

I dont like the way the effects are for creating music. I also noticed they crash with various plungins.
After working with Tracktions effects system Adobe looks poor. However, AA's audio editing makes tractkions look cluttered IMHO.
Not all the effects in AA are good. But the cleaning/restore effects are top notch.
