what don't you like the effects? Or do you not have 1.5 with vst support? The rack set up is great, you can choose serial or parallel patching and it even has it's own version of freeze (lock)....I'm not sure what could better, at least not in that price range... :D
I dont like the way the effects are for creating music. I also noticed they crash with various plungins.

After working with Tracktions effects system Adobe looks poor. However, AA's audio editing makes tractkions look cluttered IMHO.

Not all the effects in AA are good. But the cleaning/restore effects are top notch.
I've never had trouble and I think the included effects are pretty good. I haven't any third party problems I can think of. I have had cpu usage issues that have caused me to shut it down mid project, but AA asks you if you want to return to where you were when you restart. But that still has very little to do with effect implentation. I think it's pretty straight forward and intuitive, I'm sorry you don't see the same....

Do you or any AA users believe that the effects included are good enough for mastering? Are the effects on par with say Ozone or T-Racks? I tried the demo of it but really didn't get to spend a whole lot of time using it before the trial period ended. I use FL Studio soley for composing/audio recording and I'm hesitant to use anything else. So what I was wondering what AA could do for me as far as improving my mixes. I'm not really interested in the other things it includes i.e. video support, cd burning, pitch correction. Thanks.
are you going to be recording audio, ie guitars, vocals ect? If you record a lot of live stuff (like I do being a guitar player) then yes it will make a huge difference, just in ease and features (preroll, postroll, autopunch, loop record, mutiple takes). If you're just looking for a better enviroment to mix then FL, IMO no it probably would have little use to you unless you want a better wave editor as AA can be used as the wave editor in FL. But I believe just as good an improvement can be made buying other editors if that's all your needs are...FWIW I do often use FL effects in AA... :D

Thanks Hink. Yes, I do a lot of vocal recording and some guitar recording but FL suits me fine for that. As far as wav editing, I use Audacity and I don't know what additional wav editing features AA offers.

probably not a lot more, again it really depends on what your needs are...I should get myself familiar with Audacity, it would probably be in my best interest... :D

Would be nice if it were a full VST, suporting VST instruments rather than just VST effects. Then it would be a mockup of Acid, except with much better graphics. And as with Acid, the envelope editing feature is a huge plus.

I tried the demo and it pretty much blew me away. I didn't realize it had become this good!

But can someone tell me if the download version has all the stuff of the boxed version? The reason I ask is that they are the same price ($299) but if I buy the boxed I either have to pay import tax on it or buy it in my own country (at $480...).

...plus I'll have to part with something in order to afford this. Hm...what to throw out...FL? Live? Absynth? Kompakt? Reaktor Sessions? BFD? My guitar synth? My wife? :help:

Regarding the effects I think they are excellent across the board personally. I especially like the four seperate reverbs, which are very capable and transparent. They ascend in terms of CPU and quality to suit real-time/destrucitve editing to suit your needs. And there's a seperate convolution as well as the four!

VSTs mostly work fine too, but automation of VST parameters (rather than just wet/dry) would definitely be welcome (I expect it will be in version 2). In this sense, multitrackting in Tracktion is better at present.

Audition is truly a top-drawer program, and it's an essential part of my set up.

With the boxed version you get Loopology, a massive and generally good loop CD in Audition's .cel format, ready to go.

Also, the paper manual is very good indeed.

elhefe23:
For mastering, yes the effects are up there. What is sometimes forgotten though is that an important part of mastering involves analysing the waveform, which mastering plugs mentioned generally don't do. Alongside that noise reduction is an important part of the mastering process, and for this Audition is really second to none.

So from me, AA gets top recommendation.

Thanks! That was what I needed to hear. Wonder why they don't specify that online.

there's still way too many fuckin bugs in that software

used to use it at my old job (upgraded from cool edit 1) and i was quite amazed at how many quirks they had left in it

also the envelope editing is horrible

@kovacs:
Might be worth having a look at ebay for it. There are loads of buy now boxed versions for around 150.-$ + shipping. You have to be careful with ebay of course, but if you pick a seller with good reputation and pay via paypal it should be fine.
