Hi everyone. I've heard good things about the Voxengo suite of plugs, but I notice that there are a lot of plugs that do similar things...compressors, limiters etc...
What is the best bundle of plugs to get for the most dynamic and transparent mastering chain? And how would that chain of FX look in something like Wavelab or similar for mastering??
I'm very confused as to what to purchase here !!!

I'd think...
Gliss EQ>Sonicformer>Elephant would do the trick

What exactly does Soniformer do? I know Elephant is a limiter...so should that be put at the end of the chain? All very confusing!! I like the look of Soniformer though I have to say...

Soniformer is a multi-band compressor. Unfortunately, for a beginner, it is not a very easy tool to use (or use correctly that is). I have not had the opportunity to really test it, but from what I was able to mess with, it does seem very powerful.

I have heard some complaints of the somewhat unorthodox interface, but I found it quite useful. Though it did take a bit to wrap my brain around! :?

Cheers.

Did you already download and try the plug-ins? When you want to master you should trust your ears too, so you better play with the plugins and get a feel. They should not only sound right, but also be easy enough to use for you.
(I don't know your knowledge / experience level, but since you're asking this question, I assume that you're not very experienced). I'm not trying to be a smart-ass here, but I have a few of them (AF, Crunch, GlissEq) and also the Kjaerhus Gold set + GPP. I'm a novice (too), and I had planned to do it by the book (EQ -> Comp -> Lim). But right now I just find myself trying the different EQ's and Compressors for each track, trying to make it sound right.
As for mastering: I haven't really gone beyond the presets in GCO, and I'm not yet at the point that I'd specifically know what I'd need. That also means that I skip mastering if I don't realy hear a difference...

I hope this helps. Maybe my intuition about your question was completely wrong, pls don't be offended is that's the case.

audiobot202, the simplest and probably the most efficient stack would be Voxengo CurveEQ + Voxengo Soniformer + Voxengo Elephant.

If it's hard for you to get into Soniformer (a multi-band mastering compressor) you may try using Polysquasher (a single-band mastering compressor).

Voxengo CurveEQ is an equalizer with transparent sound - good for mastering if you do not need to add any additional color.

Voxengo Elephant is a mastering brickwall limiter. Using its default setup should bring you clean peak limiting or simply more loudness.

You should be also ready for a pretty high CPU load overall, especially with Soniformer and Elephant, at its default setting. While you can't lower CPU load of Soniformer, you can considerably lower CPU usage of Elephant by switching 'Oversample' to 'Off'.
