I personally refuse to use loops in my own music. I did use a loop for an intro to one of my songs and that's it. All drum programming is done by me one note at a time with copying and pasting.

Loops are tools like anything else. A craftsman or artist will make the best use of the tools he has, and his product will have that undefinable quality that makes it art .
A hack can have the best tools at his disposal, and it'll still sound like shit .
It's not the tool; it's who uses them.

No, the point I was making that it didn't matter in the end. If the 12-year-old kid gets the same end result as me, no listener is going to value my music just because I made it from scratch.

Your other points are all valid reasons for why you make music the way you do. But that doesn't make it better in the greater scheme. Better for you, sure, but not a justification of snobbery.

Using a copy and paste could be considered a loop to some extent. If all I did was make a 4/4 measure and copy and paste that through an entire song then I would consider that a loop. I have yet to hear a real drummer (myself included) play an entire song without varying his/her parts to some degree without ever playing the same beat twice. After all isn't the drummers prime responsibility to establish the beat throughout a song or has this changed? Being that this is the case there WILL be some repetition of the beat A.K.A., the copy and paste as I pointed out in my post.

... TBH i do the same thing ... get a good groove going and copy / paste that part / loop across however many measures before going in to individual iterations to edit timings / hit placements / sounds / velocities / whatever ...
