since i want to buy software i dont like cracks nd stuff cuz they always crash, i wanted to buy a cheap sequencer that will do my needs. i need a drummap(very important), midi and audio editing and rewire. im lookin for steinberg products cuz there the only ones i can work with, i tried sonar 4 but it seemed stupid to me it was to complex in areas it didnt have to be in. soo how is cubase se, i dont want to spend over 300 on software for now, ill update later when i get some more money, i wanna keep it as low as possible. give me some info on cubase se.

Post

it's only Rewire 2, so Rebirth doesn't rewire to it (unless I'm being totally retarded...)

other than that, it's f**king great for me so far.
I've been working with it for about 2 weeks now, so I still learn something new every session...

Cubase SE kicks ar$e IMO for what it costs that is.

What info do you want ?

k hmm, what does it do less that cubase sx. i need to rewire it to reason so it should work rite?? hows the editing and how are the drum maps? are they the same as sx drum map is the audio editing the same as sx, is the midi the same as sx??

Post

you can see a comparison chart for Cubase SE, SL3 and SX3 HERE.
Yes, you can rewire it to Reason. I'm doing that. Works like a treat 8)

Most of what it does less, from what I remember (I don't own, nor have ever owned it) is simply fewer things like track count, # of insert effects, # of sends, and does not have standard notation options.

Also, I suspect it comes with fewer plug-ins, but I might be wrong about that.

There's a comparison chart on the Steinberg website somewhere-- just look for it!

only 48 audio tracks, only 5 inserts per audio track.
Only 2 midi inserts per midi track.
It should be enough for anyone who is not doing this for a living or running a pro studio with it.

and I will add that I haven't figured out how to get my VST plug-ins inserted on midi tracks. It only gives you the option of the "midi" plug-ings that come with it when you go to open an insert on a midi track.

:o

That's weird.

Suddenly I'm glad I use a different sequencer. ;)

still, it was only $99. :)

I'm sure eventually I'll figure out how to get my Kjaerhus Classic plugs on a midi track. It comes with a midi effect for just about everything, I'm just used to my Classic line.

hopefully someone who's been using this longer than me will come on here and straighten me out.

Just start a new thread requesting help, people might not take note of this one. ;)

all in due time. It hasn't been a big roadblock yet...

the comparison chart was perfect thanks, 1 more question, it said somethign about it has no midi maps, does it have drum maps like sx does???

Post

Yes, drum maps are the same I believe.
I program in the Drum Key Editor and there's been no problems at all.

Post

I think it means no midi mapping or something like that. It handles midi fine. I use a Radium49 to play and record lots of different VSTi's and it has good editing capability and automation and all that shit.
