HansM , did you work with it ?
Last time I checked it out I remember it added artifacts to the sound which sounded like a too amateur algorithm to me.

To me the best sounding formant filter of all time is on the kawai k5000s...anyone found any VST close?

Yeah- try any of the White Noise synths- Dave's formant filters are wonderful. Cameleon's is also rather good as well.
Kubik has a pretty good formant filter (if not quite as good as the other two) and does wavetable synthesis with wavesequencing added in.

I don't use it much, I use VoxSynth instead... And in many cases I'm not capable to distinguish amateur algorithms from 'pro' ones, since I don't really know what the algorithms are supposed to sound like :) So I just enjoy...

I am pretty impressed by Cameleon, but for different reasons. I still prefer the sound of the K5000s's FF.

White Noise I haven't checked any of their stuff out...after reading something about how they didn't include "data" readouts (i.e. exact knob position numbers) because they wanted to be "true to analog roots" or something, I decided it was probably worth passing up... kinda like simulating a classic tape or tube sound and deciding to emulate the noise too

Guess I should take a look

Can the formant filters in Cameleon etc. also be used as an effect? That was the original question... Or maybe the question has changed?
