A Texas-sized "thanks, amigo" for posting these Mp3 files. What a drummer - what a sound - R.I.P. wherever you are, JB.

For entertainment purposes only, huh?

Hm... ;)

Now for something completely unrelated:

How do you guys "extract" rhythms from a, hm, say, for instance, drum track? I mean I might have some useful drum tracks, and I would like to, uhm, hijack the rhythm to use with my own samples.
I can think of a couple of ways (ReCycle is one), but is there a preferred way to ghost a groove? Just in case I should stumble over something I might be tempted to emulate?

Hovmod står for fall.

Sounds like you need something with beatslicing capability.

I think ConcreteFX have a free beatslicer...I think.

Or your host may have one. What host do you use?

I use Tracktion for VSTs. I wish I could be a Reason purist, but I need to record my guitar abuse and there are a few useful VSTs out there as well... I haven't delved too deep into tracktion yet, maybe there's something useful there. I suppose ReCycle is what I need. I'll look into ConcreteFX, thanks for the tip. Not that I have any particular drum tracks in mind ;)

(Sounds like these are In through the Out door outtakes, doesn't it?)

Thank you for a great link.

Regarding the how to "hijack" a drum track question :D beatslicing it's definitely the way to go.
The best I've seen so far (standalone app) is ZeroX Beat Creator. Try the demo, replacing hits without affecting the rhythm is a breeze.
Phatmatik works great as a VSTi and Fruityloops 5 Slicer Channels is the best host-related implementation I've seen.

I imagine you should be one of the first 25 to download it.

I used 1 of these tracks : analysed it and then replayed it, just amazing, his playing and his sound (even in my "redo"). Of course he was known for it... .. .

I just tried the link and it is a dead one. Could someone send me the mp3's to geoffh@cinci.rr.com? Thanks! Bonzo rules!
There is geometry in the humming of the strings, there is music in the spacing of the spheres. Pythagoras
