So THIS is what's next, yet ANOTHER awesome free sample instrument! Really, I am very thankful for your generosity. Your instruments are truly unique and very well done. Thanks again!

So, what's next?

Post

lol ask me again in a few days....

Post

Man,you're just too fast.
You're making new Samplesets a lot faster than i can make some music with it;)

Anyway,thanks for this great stuff.

Post

He makes them faster than I can download 'em. Well, not really, but close.

Post

A few days, eh? Would it be possible for you to take requests? There's an instrument out there that sounds like a bagpipe kinda, but without the drones. It may be Scottish or Celtic or something, I'm not sure.

Anyway, I really have looked hard for Celtic instruments, and not much luck. Thanks again for helping me out.

Herman: WOW. Impressive! I've got to get some way to translate these into a format I can use. :-) Thanks in advance.

kool: There are all kinds reed pipes kinda-sorta similar to a bagpipe chanter -- many are from the Mid-east or Asia. Got a sample? Put up a thread, post the URL to it, and we can play "guess the instrument."

Maybe it's not quite like a bagpipe. But here's a clip with one in it I believe. If not, it's very similar. But I know there's this one and one more instrument that does sound like a bagpipe without the drones. But I'll do with this one for now.

Go to the song called "Hibernia" down the page where you can sample the CD.

Thanks.

Ah well, won't play for me. But the name is Latin for "Ireland" so I'm guessing you're right that it's Celtic.

Erm, and you probably couldn't substitute a mizmar or a bawu. :-D

Best of luck with it -- didn't intend to hijack the thread there.

Thanks, Herman! You're doing a great job here - these are really nice little gems to use for spicing up things with both interesting and unusual sounds!

Many thanks again!
There are 3 kinds of people:
Those who can do maths and those who can't.

KoolKeys:
It might be a shawm, which is like a primitive oboe, but I think on the recording it's a bagpipe without a drone, or just a chanter from a bagpipe. I do have a chanter, which I will record somewhere soon.

Meffy: I don't have a Bawu or a Mizmar. If you could donate 35 $ I'll get one and sample it ;-)
I do have a Gaita, and a Shenai is on the way. A Bawu sounds great, but has been done really well by Marcel Barsotti (Ethno World 2) already.

Post

Well, I can't make a promise, but I may be willing to donate soon. Is there any way of getting the bagpipe chanter? By the time you get it, I may be able to give you some money. Then again, you work pretty fast!

Any of those instruments would be great. I can't wait to see what's next!

Alot of these wind instruments take on this beautiful ethereal quality with some reverb.

The most exciting for me is Armenian Duduk and some polynesian instruments, i don't know how they called.
