I'm working on a simple pitch and time thingy in Synthedit, and by its very nature it will produce a bunch of clicks and pops. It has to do with chopping up the audio at unpredictable intervals. No time to try to find nice zero-crossings or anything...
I don't really need the output to be hifi, but I don't want those clicks.
How would you filter out those clicks, leaving the rest of it as intact as possible? I have analyzed the audio output and tried with EQ and band-specific compression, but so far I kill too much of the useful signal.
Any tricks for clicks?

Cheers.

Instead of abrupt chops, see if you can use quick crossfades (5-10ms should be plenty, and shouldn't be noticable on 99+% of material).
If that's not practical, I don't know what else you can do...

Thanks, Peel, I'll see if it's possible.
I'm just learning how to use this stuff, so I'm at the mercy of those before me who have made custom modules... If the ones I use allow for a quick crossfade or envelope of some sort on those chops, it'll probably do the trick. I'm laughing a lot these days - this is so much fun. I wasn't even aware of Synthedit a month ago, now I'm regularly using 10+ silly little things I made myself, which is strangely satisfying, even though it's based on modules :)

Thanks for the tip. Another sleepless night awaits...

Perhaps you could implement some sort of volume gate that suppresses the audio to zero for the duration of an abrupt change in amplitude...?
