Hello.

I am looking for reccomendations on a multiband compressor plug in. There doesn't seem to be too many of these around :(

Only seen

C3 multiband and the Prosoniq Dynesone. Any others?

I see this as a vital part of my Cubase SX master mix chain, so, if its going to cost a few quid, so be it.

Ozone3 has a multi band compressor and a multi limiter & exciter.
Might be more than you need. But it is of excellent quality.

Thanks, but that a nut/sledgehammer scenario.

I have the other tools, just need a dedicated multicomp.

If you have Reaktor there's the rather good Flatblaster. Otherwise Endorphin is a fine 2 band compressor.

Yeah, T-Sledge looks nice. Free as well

Eventually something intelligent will appear written here. Watch this space.

Upgrade to SX3 and there's one built in - I love it

And the number of the counting shall be three.

That's interesting too. Thanks.

Where would it sit in a mastering chain though :?:

I'd recommend Ultrafunk Sonitus multiband. Five bands of compression goodness!

The Ultrafunk has a nice sound which can go from smooth to hard, transparent to pumping.

Ultrafunk was purchased by Cakewalk so check out Cakewalk's site.

Shameless plug - If you're interested I'd sell you my license - PM me.

As I'm the author, this is not strictly speaking a recommendation :) but here's a pointer to our multiband plugin...

Our Quantum FX bundle also has a bunch of mastering tools, including distortion-free peak limiters, 3/5 band compressors & limiters, and a full multiband linear-phase mastering toolkit.

Cheers,
Dave

I know your buddy Colin (think thats his name???) from Edinburgh by the way! Had a nerdy chat with him as I do some work for Camel Audio and he was telling me about db-audioware. One of those its-a-small-world things as we have a mutual friend from Mnachester

Now I read on another forum <sharp intake of breath> that putting a multiband compressor in your final mixdown chain can cause more problems than it solves, which I found distressing as I had just started experimenting with the Sonitus multiband. People were saying it can pull the mix apart rather than squish it all nicely together....

Anyone have any idea on the facts behind this?
