Hi,

If I really like Emagic's Extreme Analog EXS24 sample CD. Which other options do I then have for fat synts?

Post

Since you posted this in the samples forum: fat, skinny, tall, short, every kind of synth samples are in Sonik Synth 2. Plus a heck of a lot more -- just about every category of sample is represented, though it's definitely strongest on classic synthesizer sounds (some are from rare machines, others from favorites).

The player has many high-quality integrated effects, and if you want more control you can load the same sounds into SampleTank 2. For the best, fattest sound, layer two or more samples. Eons of fun. :-)

Or you can get a soft synth or two and roll your own. That's another world, and great fun too.

Best regards,

Meffy

I've allready tried Sonik Synth 2, but I thought it didn't have the fatness of Extreme Analog. Maybe I should have tried to layer synth and stuff like that. I didn't do that. I was rather dissapointed actually.

Is that my only option? If that's the case I'll try it again.

What about Logic's integrated plug-ins? Like ES2. Can I make that sound fat like Extreme Analog?

What I like in Extreme Analog is the leads like JP8 mini and stuff like that.

Oh, there are tons of options. :-) SS2 is just the most synth-packed sample library I own. And yes, you can thicken the plot using multiple layers, tweaking the controls, and playing with the built-in effects (or external ones for that matter).

I don't have Logic, so can't tell you what might compare with what comes with it. But I'm sure Logic users will know.

I'm with you on not thinking too much of the synths in SS2. You might like plugsound vol. 5 , it has a good variety and some big sounds in it. You also might like ultra focus or Albino 2.

I don't have experience with all synths, but on the Mac/Logic side of things, the fattest synth I've found would be refx's Vanguard. ES1 can do some analog sounds, but I don't think it sounds as good (I only have Logic Express, so I don't know about ES2). The nice thing about Vanguard is that you can get a lot of usable sounds out of it "out of the box," at least for trance/techno-style music - I haven't been quite as happy with the included presets on Logic instruments, although there are a few decent ones.
