Today, posted the first batch out.
Yesterday, contacted 'City Life' (Manchesters happening magazine), Manchester Evening News (3 unsigned Manchester musicians on it, plus one from Oldham {albeit now living elsewhere} has to be of interest) and the local free paper (2 blokes from Moston on it - there has to be a local interest story there). Actively spoke to someone in all three places and am dropping a CD in to City Life on Monday if that's OK?
They'll probably review it with any luck, but they'll almost certainly write something about it at least.
On Monday, I'm gonna see if Piccadilly Records and my mates independent shop will take some for their shelves at no profit to themselves. As it's for charity, they might just go for it.
My mate almost definitely will. (Manchester peeps: this is that big record shop a couple of doors down from Herman's Head Shop, opposite Afflecks Palace - he used to be Ambicus Records in the Collisseum
)
If we can get independent outlets like this around the world to carry the CD, that could be great.
So now I'm wondering about possibilities of posters, for the shop windows or wherever, to draw peoples attention to it? You know the type of thing.
Maybe just a large version of the cover (A1 or A2?) but with details on it? One thing could be track / artist listing with location of artist - would sure as heck sell more copies in those areas, at least.
Just a suggestion.

Am also told HMV support things like this. Don't know how true that is, so I'm gonna go check it out on Monday while I'm in town for the other two shops.
Nothing ventured, nothing gained eh?

Nice one mick!
actually, I was talking to friend last night and she was saying that it would be good to do some posters to stick in local venues, and selling in few local independant shops. I'll have to get our resident designer to knock out a poster design. Though printing might be a problem. hmm.. though, I think we have a good colour printer at work.. I'll have to ask around. I'll get on it on monday.

Coolio... great stuff Mick
Though it's a shame the actual link doesn't work? You have to cut n paste it to get to the site? Is there anyway of fixing that or can you not have links to external websites from there site?

I didn't put that there Ben - it's the result of a few conversations with the sites owner about how best to promote this product on his site.Glooper wrote:Coolio... great stuff Mick

Links just don't work on that site I'm afraid - that's just the way he has it programmed, I dunno why, but hey! At least he's given it front page status though eh? Kudos to Marv for that.
