I feel really cool when I mess with all my levels on my hardware and mixer for seriously half an hour before I realize that the reason my audio sounds terrible is because "Windows Bass Boost" is all the way up. Go team!

It boosts the low frequencies on the taskbar.

open up your volume control, and then go to Options > Properties. Then you can select what you see the levels for. Select "Bass Boost" and bring it all the way down (or check mute).

I won't go into detail on how I 'amaze myself'... Just to say it's not legal in 34 States and 5 Provinces.

The lengths one has to go....
