Funky rhodes comping

I've been very impressed by Herbie Hancock/Chick Corea style of funky Rhodes playing (IMHO that's especially evident in their 70s performances with Headhunters and Return to Forever, respectively) but I have no idea how to replicate it.
As I'm fundamentally bass player I have little or no keyboard skill or knowledge.
Any suggestion? Any standard voicing, reccomended scale choice, classic rhythm pointer you can share?

Advise on instructional books, must-listen records and even midi examples would be highly welcome too

When I want to learn about a music style I just sample short sequence of it & try to replicate what I hear with what I have.
Analyse the playing, check the tempo, notes, velocity, etc...
With todays tools it quite easy.

Well, it's hard to emulate either Corea or Hancock easily because both of them 1)know music theory up down sideways and a hundred other ways, and 2)are amazing virtuoso players. However, just "faking it" will in fact result in some nice stuff, but not at their level.

A couple of good records are Bitch's Brew and In a Silent Way, both by Miles Davis during the early fusion era and full of very cool Rhodes comping.

aww, yes! it´s the overall-sound of that record that I love and the coolness how it is played!
