The Rhodes Samples Thread

Post your electric pianos (Rhodes) sample links here! Here's mine:

Ceo - Rhodes
http://www.crg.cs.nott.ac.uk/~jcp/akai/disks/rhodes.zip
Type: Multi-Sampled for the Akai S5000 (.wav files with Akai mapping)
These are lo-fi, very short rhodes multi-samples, usuable.

PlatinumLoops - Fender Rhodes
http://platinumloops.com/keyboards_samples.shtml
Type: .wav loops
Professional quality fender rhodes wav loops.

Loopmasters - Rhodes Loops
http://www.loopmasters.com/WAV-Downloads.asp
Type: .wav loops
High quality electric piano loops, easy to chop & re-arrange. Personnal favorite.

HollowSun - Fender Rhodes
http://www.hollowsun.com/vintage/rhodes/index.html
Type: Multi-Sampled Akai Format (.wav included)
High quality samples, the only drawback is that some of the notes are cut to short on the beginning (no attack) + they don't fade which means you'll need to fade them out yourself.

G Media - On The Rhodes
http://www.makingwavesaudio.com/downloa ... nloadID=12
Type: Two .wav loops
You'll have to give your name & e-mail to have access to these two so-so rhode loops.

Waveform.dk - Fender Rhodes
http://www.waveform.dk/samples/misc/Rhodes_C1-C2.rar
http://www.waveform.dk/samples/misc/Rhodes_C3-C4.rar
Type: Multi-Sampled, waves files
Good quality multi-sampled Fender Rhodes, if I remember well you'll have to edit them (fade in & out at the beginning & end of the files) to remove the possible "click" noise that may occur...

FindSounds.com - Rhodes
http://www.findsounds.com/ISAPI/search.dll
http://www.wyze.dircon.co.uk/keyboards/rhodes4.wav
Type: one note .wav
I have heard this sample (the rhodes4.wav) in professionals release even though it sounds sampled from a record! Sweet sounding rhodes with tremolo.

That's it! 8)

What about Learjeff's 75 MB Rhodes Soundfont that he made from his 1975 Mark 1?

Nevermind, tried the link and his domain is expired. That's a shame cause it sounds awesome. Maybe I will try to contact him and see if it can be put somewhere else, like at the audiotorium at Audioshots.
Anti-aliasing is for "synthmonk%ys".

Yeah, I know that one but didn't had the time to download it. Maybe he could try making it available on the Audioshots servers? :?:

Our own Prepared Rhodes MK 1 73: prepared as John Cage and others prepared an acoustic piano, that means you insert springs, plastic tubes, pins, etc., all kinds of objects inside the piano. These objects when touching the strings or the tines change the sound of each key played. All the notes can be radically different from each other and often you don't even recognize the original sound. You get an instrument that is much more percussive in nature.

Another Rhodes sample no one's mentioned yet is the one included in the Reason Electro Mechanical refill which I think is pretty useable. If anyone's interested in hearing that one in the comparison, let me know.

Thanks :)

My domain is back up, after much hair-pulling and gnashing of teeth, mostly on the part of my loyal web service provider at artistcollaboration.com. (Totally not their fault, but rather of a domain name provider.)

So, find my (free) Rhodes soundfonts at Learjeff.com.

There's a new verion up, a stereo Rhodes, with a light stereo chorus applied and also some compression. Sounds great live or studio.

For folks who download and compare a number of the above, I'd be interested to hear contrast & comparisons. I may download a number myself -- many I don't remember seeing when I went searching before doing my own.

hi,

Learjeff, I can't decompress your soundfonts using the latest version of SfArk :( . SfArk said it's not valid.

bye,
Chris

Post

Yeah, that doesn't make any sense at all since I used the latest version (v2.15) to encode them. A few folks report that problem, though most don't. The rumor is you can decompress it using sfArkXTc.

I've sent a message to MelodyMachine asking about it. I should post a note about it on my webpage, too.

Please let me know if sfArkXTc works or not.

Thanks,
Jeff

hi Learjeff

sfArkXTc didn't work either. :(
Am I doing something wrong?

bye
Chris
