January 20th because that was when 2.1 was announced at NAMM. But, don't worry. You can get it if you bought if just after January 1st. We'd do it through www.esoundz.com even if need be. We'll be selling the sound upgrade for anyone prior to this year though. Maybe certain customers will just get it for free from us such as esoundz platinum members and people who have helped us out in different ways. But, in general, this is the deal. The software part is a free ugprade for all ST2 users though. That's nice. That includes a stand alone version too you know.Judaskane wrote:I bought and registered Sampletank on the 7th of January 2005, so as you can imagine, I'm not to happy about the 20th been the start off point!!
Surely January 1st is a better start point...Ok...your still gonna upset the people who got it for Christmas... but I mean January the 20th!!!! It seems like IK Multimedia are playing it safe : Get Christmas out of the way...Get the January sales out of the way...surely now everyone will have bought it...so lets release the freebie!!!!
Is anyone with me to start a crusade to get the date pushed back![]()
Great to find this forum...why is there no link to it on the Sampletank site???
Catch ya later.

Just kidding?
No no no.. me wants to beta test it! I'd be happy to.
This could be a potential problem for users that previously bought St2. Well we'll see. Hopefully, if we load a project, St2 just looks for the preset name( hopefully, it doesn't look for file size etc ).. But I have no clue how it currently works.. Could you open up a project and see? Or just send me the discs and I will
I have two words for you though. Chocolate and caramel. Thinnnnnnn. Giradelli... mmmmmmm.
Hehehehehehehe I really do have to try those.
Take care Squidsy...

Well, first it has to be done and released. Then when it is out there will be a way. Grace periods are always around when you want to please customers. I think both IK and SR will at least go back to Jan 1st. So, don't worry. When it is available we'll figure out a way. There's always which date you registered to go by.Judaskane wrote:Squids you mean I'll be able to get the 2 DVDs free!!!!!
Say its so and make my day PLZ!!!
If it is true how do I go about ordering it??

I'm actually one of the people in charge of the new improved sound set. I am going through the whole existing one and then adding a bunch of great stuff from all over the place. It will have new phrases and loops to take advantage of the new Stretch and PS/TS, it will have a nice cross-section of instruments and since it is the flagship technology that hosts many other sound products based on its engine, it will even have a little taste of things like Philharmonik and Studiophonik on there too (among other things). Don't worry. I know how to pack the value in there. I also made strong requests that the upgrade not be too much for people who bought it before Jan 1st so it's a great deal for everyone.
Cheers! SampleTank 2.1 is awesome. Stand alone. Double the outputs. Splits/Velocity ranges. New Stretch/PS/TS. The app upgrade is free for ST2 L or XL users and mega sound update is either cheap or free. I hope this makes people happy to be ST2 owners. Going for irresistability here.

Squids - small question.
When you say the app upgrade is free for ST2 L and XL users, as an ST2 full (engine-only) guy am I entitled to the engine upgrade for free also?

Woohoo!
Of course, as I've never bought the XL soundset - I fully expect to have to pay for the upgraded soundset.
I can't find a reason in the world why I'd gripe about the necessity.
I will definitely now wait until the upgraded soundset is available though as I want the Squids XL soundset for ST2.

It won't be a pure Squids XL sound set. But, a mix of SR & IK stuff. A lot of new material plus a smattering of this and that from the new modules and then some revamp of the classic IK material in there. Actually, I was one of the programmers who went through the original ST1XL set and did new child patches for them. So, I've already had a bit of my touch on the ST2 XL collection (plus I provided some of the samples although not too many... mostly to round off the collection).Caleb wrote:Woohoo!

I have some questions about the new 2.1 functions:
ST2.1 will have a main effects section (with sends from the invididual channels)? (the SS2 preview showed that).
Will be possible to assign velocity and aftertouch to control the engine parameters?
Midi learn to assign parameters to controls?
thanks

Don't want to go over old ground here, but I have to say I'm a little disappointed too in reading that 2.1 will be out after just purchasing 2.
I ordered it on Dec 31st (from Esoundz), it shipped Jan 3 and received about a week later.
Had I known 2.1 was coming out I'd have definateley waited.
Having said that, I know these issues always arise, and trying to be fair to everybody (and keep them happy) is impossible.
I'll have to remember in future never to buy anything until NAMM is over.
I did get a free cd though.

Don't be disappointed. Dec 31? We'll hook you up. But, it's not a bad idea to see what comes out at NAMM when buying in January. You could also ask me "should I wait" and I'll tell you what I can. I help you guys as much as I can. You guys know that right? Anyway, if you bought from esoundz I can help you. If you bought elsewhere it is out of my control.DaveElson wrote:Don't want to go over old ground here, but I have to say I'm a little disappointed too in reading that 2.1 will be out after just purchasing 2.
