That is fair enough Carb, and I respect your position. I would be interested to know why you think the future is in open platforms, other than perhaps you have invested in VSTs?

As I have said a number of times I see Reason more as an instrument with inbuilt sequencer (like most keyboards/synths I use) than as a replacement for my host (which is Tracktion, but I realise FL works better for some, depending on your approach to composing).

And on that basis... none of my keyboards are "open platform". They are closed instruments. Just like Reason. I plug them in via my MIDI interface. I plug Reason in via ReWire. I sequence in Tracktion using my instruments. Either way that's how I personally work.

I'd love to know what you were doing when FL Studio crashed.

I was trying to use it as a VST in Live 4, which I had recently purchased... it was the demo version of FL5. I sought help from IL but didn't get a polite/helpful response. I think others had the same difficulty.

I was actually testing the demo not to find fault but because I work in education and was seriously considering purchasing multiple copies of FL for use in schools in my area. So IL lost out on a few sales there.

IL have well over 60,000 registered users, and 100,000's of Warez users banging away...not surprising that you hear of the odd crash

I belive that Reason has sold a few copies as well

. And you don't really hear about crashes at all. Or x.0.1 bug-fix updates.

Do jingles very often donkey. The problem is that I stay away from Ad agencies. Cause they suk at making timely payments. So I tend to loose substantial work there. But I do get some independent productions.

Cool to know that you are working on the rock n roll, I myself used to be a big time rock and roller in the past. Just in case you would like to check out my music, here's the link. Everything is staright out of FL. Hope this will also give you an idea about it's capabilities.

Problem no. one. I did RTFM. But could not see an immediate reply in the index scroll that I did (please realize that I am a bit impatient)

I imported an audio mix that i have just completed and on which i want to layer a few percussions.

I make a basic shaker pattern using the step sequencer (with a little shuffle )

Now, playbak I can select either to play back the song, or the pattern.

the pattern will play back what I have done in the Step sequencer, and the song will playback what I have done in the playlist. How do I get the pattern to play along the audiofile ? I did send the pattern to the piano roll. no help.
