Hi everyone,
We just have created a brand new M42 page on our website. There you can find the first product we released for the M42 but we also have a new soudfont in development and we need your input.
This soundfont is made specially for the M42 Nebula from voice samples of Julie Hamelin a Montreal jazz singer. She has a very beautiful voice. You can download the beta of this soundfont on our M42 page and please read the readme file that is included with it.
I really like the results we have so far but we really need your input on this new product.

Here's a little demo.
Copy of my post in the Music café:
"Last week I made a sampling recording session with a Montreal jazz singer named Julie Hamelin. It may take a while but we intend to release a few sample sets in various formats with her voice.
Here's a little piece I made with my first tests, everything you hear is her voice. There are 2 instances of the M42 Nebula and in each only the soundfont oscillator is used, this means that the basic sound is Julie's voice only but as the M42 can really modulate those samples, it gets groovyyyy.
There's also one instance of Vsampler 3 playing straight and unprocessed scat lines as she sang them.
So download it and listen to it: Julie's having fun in the Nebula

OK...tried it. Theres 1 sample that is not in tune to concert pitch, and is quite obvious, so i would fix that one. My only complaint is the chipmunk effect as you go up the keyboard, but maybe can't be helped. However it still sounds good in some cases
Otherwise a very cool sound set. Once you start mangling it with M42, it sounds unreal!!!

I will recheck all the tunings before releasing the final version which will contain a lot more samples.tconrardy wrote:OK...tried it. Theres 1 sample that is not in tune to concert pitch, and is quite obvious, so i would fix that one.

In this beta version there's only one sample per patch, which of course is why there's the chipmunk effect. The final version will have some multisampled patches but I will keep some with only one sample per patch as I really like the chipmunk effect in some cases.
Also, all the samples in this beta version are based on a "ouou" sound. The final version will have a lot more variety.

I have. it's amazing! This womans voice is superb! And playing back all the wierd scat stuff and cat-like moans makes for some really sweet ambient stuff. like an instant remix almost.tconrardy wrote:looking forward to the completed SF2 bank !! Anybody else try out this beta???

Just for clarification, ToTc is not talking about the free beta which does not contains the scat stuff and cat-like moans but about the Julie's vocal FX soundfont which is for sale on our website and is the first product featuring her voice available. Of course, it can be used in the M42 but it has no loop points and the banks are not configured to fit the M42 bank selector. Also when I load it in the M42 on my system (it's 3 years old), I sometimes have CPU spikes. ToTc is not mentionning this so maybe he's not experiencing them.
I would like to know if someone else is experiencing problems with it. You can get the demo of Julie's vocal FX HERE
The next soundfont featuring her voice will probably be one for the M42

I would also like to mention that if you try other SF2's in M42, first pick the DEFAULT patch at the end of the factory bank. Then turn off synth 1. Then using the systems dialog, go to the page for loading a custom SF2. Once it loads, you go to the SFO osillator section and use the bank and waveform selector switches to scroll thru them.
also, if you make any patches..you first load the patch..THEN the SF2. Otherwise, it will default to the factory SF2.
