:D :D :D

Ok, it's time to create a buzz here aswell for this new magnifficent EQ. I have to say right off the bat that this eq sounds simply stunning. It's like nothing you guys have ever heard in plugin format before. I know this sounds like all the rest of they hype surrounding this plugin on the net but trust me.. it's a killer. It will not render the voxengo eq's nor the kjaerhus offerings obsolete as it doesn't have the same amount of control but the sheer sound quality of this beast is undeniable. You might still be able to sign up for beta testing the plugin but it should be out quite soon. The Mac OS X version is already out and for sale. There's also a demo for the mac version. All you mac people should NOT miss this plugin. It's a bargain and very high quality. Dare I say it's the first plugin EQ to truly rival hardware? Yes, I do. :D

Hmmm - looks dangerous - $150 is a little steep for my budget right now (Times is Hard! :D ) but I'll hang out and see what some EQ experts think...

I agree, it sounds like a hardware EQ.
This indeed is an amazing plugin. Convolution based. A PC version is coming soon.

Where did you guys find out about this EQ ?

A difference between hard and soft EQ? What would make them sound different?

Lets just put it this way, the best plugin eq is about 0.05% of a 3000$ analogue hardware eq. The sound difference is ENORMOUS. This really isn't like the analogue synth vs virtual analogue at all. The difference is undeniable and huge. Just do a +9db wide boost at 400hz with a plugin eq and compare it to a similar boost on quality analogue hardware. :P

The new Voxengo Harmonic EQ is a very good plugin eq though and is one of the first that sounds really good on it's own. No need to compare it to anything IMHO.

The tritonedigital hydratone is a very different kind of eq. When boosting, it simply boosts. Just like a quality analogue. Nothing extra added, no harsh 'edges', nothing. It's immensely musical and good sounding. Try the demo, or sign up for PC beta.

Kylen,
The company is mentioned on several places, Noisevault and others.

The eq has a solid state mode and a tube mode. The tube sounds very sweet (avln).I can't think of a software eq that comes near.

I just stumbled upon Salvator, one of the coders, when looking for info on the Sintefex FX2000 and FX8000. He adviced me here, on KvR, against buying one because he was working on a plugin that would kill it. I was like.. yeah right, a plugin that kills 3000$ hardware but man.. if the Squeeze Tone compressor is anywhere near as impressive as the Hydratone EQ then I'll be selling the sintefex immediately! (lucky I got a good price on it so it shouldn't be a problem getting my money back).

Btw. there's been a small 'underground' buzz about tritonedigital for over a year now. Mac people running ValveTone has been swearing by it for some time now, even prefering it over some hardware. The buzz is at www.gearslutz.com and some other forums with "big" name producers/engineers.

And it was just discovered that the avalon 737 EQ in the unit is actually solid state also. Only the mic/pre and compressor in it are tube. :P Never the less, it sounds awesome.

At this quality level it is the bargain of the century. They could easily sell if for over 1000$. It's that good.

Thanks folks ! I stumbled over there a while back by accident but I don't see many folks where I hang out talking about this one...I'm a PC guy so that's part of it too I guess. I'll be awaiting the PC version of this EQ to try out... 8)
