hi..id like to ask if anyone else here dreams original music on a regular basis. it happens to me all the time, unfortunately i very often cant remember how the tune/song went when i wake up...sometimes i can though and the bits i could remember have found there way into some tracks of mine.
one thing that always strikes me is the songs are ALLWAYS absolutely brilliant and COMPLETE songs:-)..or maybe i just think they where...
didnt paul mcartney say that a lot of the beatles tracks where written 'automatically' or by 'someone else' in his dreams...and that he often had the impression that when he then 'wrote' the song it was as if he just covering a song hat aleady existed..strange.
i know i dreamt 2 tracks on saturday night and remember thinking that ive GOT to remember these when i wake up as they are extremely good..both just me on an acoustic guitar singing....havnt a clue anymore how they went;-)
anyone else have more success remembering songs from dreams?

Not songs, but yesterday I woke up with a polyblit taste in my mouth. I was trying to understand polyblit before I got to bed so I must have dreamt some interresting patches

Here's a guy who isn't ashamed to reveal his sources:
Steve Vai got his record through Astral Projection when he was 16
The actual liner notes were even more spaced out.
Me, I always "hear" great music when I'm walking, or driving, or doing something boring and repetitive, like chop wood or cut grass or shovel snow or do dishes. But it's always gone when I have tools around to recreate it

Interesting question there buddie, i wouldnt so muhc dream music , rather, have an annoying little habit of only thinking of my BEST muscial ideas at that point in bed where ive just got comfortable, just about to fall to sleep then ill start thinking of a little melody in my head, they will always be my most catchy and inventive ones, but at the time where i really cant be arsed to get back out of bed, and of course, come morning time, i have no idea what they went like anymore!!
gutted.

Ah! often if I am just daydreaming, then its the beat that takes over - if I am looking at something then music flows, If the image has movement or depth, I am in my element - if I am awake.

I dreamt a great violin jazztune yesterday- bit like stephan grappelli, sweet sweet melody...
Yep i often dream music, mostly i forget, and if i don't it's because i dreamt a tune that already existed.
I once dreamt a tune, and remembered it when i woke up, and so i was amazed- two days later my girlfriend started humming that same tune (shock shock, is this telepathy?); she had the lp... (some bob dylan song)

I used to dream of music occasionally when I've been younger.
These days it's all the same: Wet dreams.
Guess you allways dream about the unavailable things...

There are 3 kinds of people:
Those who can do maths and those who can't.
