ShortCircuit is indeed amazing.

So simple to use, yet so full of depth. Two user-definable LFOs, two EGs, a multitude of filter settings, infinite modulation thanks to user-definable mod sources, extremely easy sample/patch stacking, extremely easy multi-zone simultaneous editing, decent effects, akp import, rex import, beat slicing, good integrated sample editor, nice simple multisample/drumkit importing...

The list of flexibility tools is pretty long, and that's on top of stability, low memory/processor impact, and again, EASE OF USE.

I tried messing with VSampler v.3, and the interface was just too cluttered and confusing. I've seen Kontakt/Impakt before, and they're even moreso from what I've seen. Never really looked at HALion or Giga, SampleTank, or EXS24. (I run a PC, forgive me)

Granted, SC doesn't have the ability to import from many sample formats when compared to VSampler/etc, I don't have an extensive library in any format other than akp (mostly thanks to Hollow Sun!!!) and straight up hundreds of scattered wavs. Maybe this prog can help me get organized!

I'm not about to abandon my precious s5000/akSys, but when I'm away from home and need access to those programs, SC is a blessing. It's a very creative way to spend a few seconds, rather than a few hours, trying to program a new patch from an old one.

It is too bad sfz+ with gig support could not be released. Damn Tascam BS patent on their disk streaming technology!

Maybe an alternative technology caould devised that avoids the patent problems. With Cakewalk in the picture, perhaps this is possible.

ahh, you must come from Hardware :)

preset flicking is not something VST devs often think off, saying this the browsing in Battery2 is AWESOME! lets hope Kontakt2 uses the same method.

Looking at this pic, there are arrows next to each 'instrument' preset, as well as multis.

It is "eating my own words" time. Kontakt has now been relegated to being a sample library player. When I am playing around with sounds and effects and generally mangling sounds, ShortCircuit does an amazing job.
