looking for good raw waveforms for sampler abuse

The upcoming Kontakt 2 looks like it could be a very nice modular synth when loaded with good raw synth waveforms. I've been looking around for such samples and I've found a few things but I'm looking for more.
Any experience with this, for instance?

The hollow sun stuff and the stuff at ampfea look interesting. Any other recommendations? Commercial or free.

Go here, enter the Samples section and download all the bass and synth packs.
Then sample single-cycle waveforms off them. Works great!
I do this a lot myself and I usually name the single cycle WAVes I get after their sound, like: "woooooh.wav"
btw: Any sampler can replace basic synth sounds.

I use Reaktor to create my own waveforms to mash up in Kontakt.
I also grab bits of dialogue from DVD's use them both in Kontakt and Reaktor. It's really surprising what you can come up with.
My best advice.. be imaginative.

Thanks for the suggestions. I've been focused on synths since I started seriously trying to make music but I had a little ephiphany along the lines you suggest about how much can be done with a sampler, especially one as complex as Kontakt. Kontakt 2 with convolution and scripting sounds like an amazingly flexible sound maker.John-Paul wrote:I use Reaktor to create my own waveforms to mash up in Kontakt.

yeah.. i'm pretty stoked about Kontakt 2 -- the new features are astounding!
Most people around the Kontakt forum seem more worried about whether the ongoing stability/bug issues will disappear.
I'm really keen to upgrade both to Kontakt 2 and Sonar 4 -- but I'm also saving money to go back to Canada for a month this year!! And to top that off, we're living only on one income as my girlfriend is a full-time student!!! Life isn't meant to be easy eh?
I think I'll somehow have to come up with the cash for Kontakt -- can't really resist!

There are a lot of samples on the http://www.djbb.dk/ site but they are all in mp3 format.
I bought the Experimental Waveforms Box for only 9 euros. See: http://www.backintimerecords.de/bitr023.htm
It consists of numerous simple but high-quality waveforms from many of the classic analogue synths.

This looks interesting but the site wants me to pay 8 euro shipping for something it says is delivered as an email attachment. Any ideas?meroveus wrote:There are a lot of samples on the http://www.djbb.dk/ site but they are all in mp3 format.

The site apparently doesn't have any FTP space, necessitating this method.
If you are worried about his integrity, I had no 'issues'. because my ISP at the time wouldn't accept email attachments of more than 2MB, Klaus obligingly broke it down into (<2MB) sections for me.
BTW, kpr has supplied the raw waves of some of the Dash/Wusik banks eg. MiniMoog and FS1R I believe.
So what's yer problem?

i'm actually working on an app right now that will generate waveforms by adding harmonics similar to the oscs on sytrus. right now it really isn't a priority project but if there's enought interest i guess i could try and speed up developement a bit

I don't want to pay shipping fees for something that isn't "shipped". If it's coming in an email why does it want to charge me to ship it?meroveus wrote:The site apparently doesn't have any FTP space, necessitating this method.

You're not paying shipping fees. It is an 'emailed' product. At least it was when I bought it. So 9 euros was the total I paid.
If it is trying to charge you 8 euros for shipping, then it sounds like a site error.
You should contact klaus to investigate.

Of course we don´t charge shipping when the sample submission is mail attachment. Is this shown on the shop order form? If so it´s wrong, sorry for the confusion. I have to visit the shop configuration page, perhaps we´ve overseen this and it´s generated automatically. You can request a PDF list with all provided samples to get an impression how useful the waveform selection is for your individual purposes.

Currently the form requires me to select a shipping option and the only option available is 8 euros for international shipping. I'd happily pay the 9 euros you're asking for all the waveforms but the shipping thing has got to be a mistake.kpr wrote:Of course we don´t charge shipping when the sample submission is mail attachment. OK, thanks for the report and we´ll change this on the shop site ASAP. But you don´t need to visit the shop if you want to order, just send your order as regular mail to sales@backintimerecords.de.kuniklo wrote:
