the important key os to use a LOT of verb and gate on everything u use regarding drums tho.

i have used mainly the Linndrum for most of my pure 80's music as i find it to have all of those classic sounds in it. hard to fins any 80's song without it actually.

Yes,I agree,you can get much of this from linn lm-1(which I have),and some from fairlight and others of that era.

I`m working on a sample drm kit to mimic the devo-duty now for the future sound.

The wave samples are good.Just full bodied.They will need some eq to thin out.
These two are from the fairlight collection.
I still will collect the other drums in the (devo)kit and post them.Not sure if i`ll eq/re-sample them first...depends.

Cool! I'm definately keepin' my eye on this thread, very interested to see how the Devo kit turns out.

I love the fact that somebody is out here looking for devo-esque sounds. Don't see that much these days...

That`s what i`m attempting to do.
All the sounds i`m working with will be real drm sounds.
The HH and cymbls are easy since there`s not much deviation between cymbals themselves...just how they are hit.

I`m including just the necessary hits...not more then that.

I`ll get as close to Alan`s tom sounds as I can.

Editing the sounds now...these,unlike the above snare/kick samples,are not prepared drm samples...I have to do all the work here.

Should have it done in an hr or so.

I'm listening to Duty Now for the future right now.... The drums are definately real, but I know whatcha mean.

They sound very dry - almost demo-like. But not in a crappy way - more in a clinical way (if that makes sense!) The toms are not typical sounding, maybe those roto-tom thingies, he'd need a big one for those floor tom sounds...

Exactly!That`s what i`m using for the toms!
Forget exactly what these toms are called...but they are very dead sounding.
All other toms I have are too reverberent...I`m about to see if I can retune them to Alan`s settings.
I finished all the other sounds.After these toms are done...I`ll be ready to upload them all.(I also EQd the snare sound)
