Si basically, Sytrus will be able to record automation to its envelopes?
no, that wouldn't really work since it's voice-based

Post

Was always tempted to get Sytrus, but since I have Rhino I find the temptation has died some. Might pick it up sometime in the future, but in my mind Rhino wins my vote for one of the best out there. 8)

no one said that Sytrus or Rhino were for everyone. There's a scale in required user knowledge. You don't need any knowledge to use a rompler, you need a little more to use Sytrus, Rhino, FM7, and you need much more to use Reaktor.
And please give up before you turn me off Imageline Products completely
lol, how childish
Well that depends on wether or not you program a rompler yourself also .
As I stated you could get lost in the complexity of an Ultraproteus or Morpheus quite easily.
Even the Audity 2000 whilst simplified in the filter department and lacking function generators was easily as patchable as a modular and required pretty good synthesis knowledge to program well.
And it's pretty much the same engine that's now in the Proteus X.
Roland's XV engine if you bother to roll your sleeves up is pretty deep also.
Products like UltraFocus with the advanced UVI engine yield the best results with an understanding of basic subtractive synthesis at the very least... ditto for the humble Ravity S which is a programmers delight in the right hands.
And you may find my last comment childish but I had seriously considered the group buy until reading this thread.
If you see that as no reason to sit back and contemplate the consequences of your actions in a thread of this natutre then that is fine.
However don't dismiss a potential product consumer as trite or immature just because they feel this thread has put them of a product you've tried so hard to encourage people to explore.

don't worry, it's only a $50 miss, nothing worth worrying about. Maybe for one who won't buy it because of this thread, 2 others will?

Soundwise, Rhino kills Sytrus.
Preset-wise Rhino beats the piss out of Sytrus.

Sytrus is probably a little easier to program. If you're into the Absynth type sound, Sytrus is for you. If you're into mindf#*ck-style psychedelic ear candy, Rhino is for...me. 8)

I like 'em both. They're different and they're good. The same goes for the developers, incidentally. I really appreciate the patience and politeness of 'Tick and I enjoy reading gol's dealings with the (also) unwashed masses. I'm a programmer, too, and while I'm known for being nice, I'm definitely not known for being polite. And those of you who seem to think that gol is terrible PR compared to 'Tick, keep in mind that gol is really just the programmer at Image Line and Big Tick is everything at Big Tick.

Two great products and two great personalities. What's the fuss?

Post

I quite agree with everything you've said.

Keep in mind though that while gol is only a progammer as far as we know, he does have some other projects on the go. Namely, FL Studio.

Huh? That's hardly an "other" project. I'm not sure what you're trying to say...

That's hardly an "other" project.
Precisely - I was being sarcastic... humour for effect?
