I think it might do for the Mac users (not sure). At least Iv found a few places to download stuff from. Since its pretty new to PC it doesnt seem to be as wide spread. This is a real shame cuz Iv found the program next to near useless! Only thing I could find was a few FFT programs that really didnt blow me away.

I think Csound is still the language of choice for PC musicians. Its HEAVY stuff, but if you can figure enough out to use the GUI based instruments, then i can work. And its free! Check out Csound VST, this allows you to use Csound programs as plug ins in you host.

I'd also look at Plogue's BIDULE

http://www.plogue.com

It's a cool modular-style program that allows you to also host VST and VSTi's. Very fun and easy to work with. Currently it is in a FREE pre-version 1.0 beta release.

I use it quite a bit with Reaktor as a plugin --- it also has FFT modules (which makes Reaktor very interesting to use!!)

lots of modular suggestions here now.
i'd like to try them all, but it would take some time to get to know each of them to really discover its power, and i rather spend that time on producing tbh.

this bidule looks interesting tho, as well as audiomulch. found some efx from smartelectronix inspired by audiomulch efx, wich was dandy! very useful for what i'm after.. so dunno if i'm gonna try audiomulch, perhaps i'm gonna give bidule a try? dunno..

its all a big blur now. :hihi:

modular isnt something u get the hang of in 1 night, and i already know the basics of 2...

just to still my curiousity, what kind of stuff do you do in bidule, regarding connecting diff reaktor efx etc..?

may sound dumb, its all about creativity and imagination, but as said, i'm just curious. :)

In my experience Max is not very stable. Audiomulch has sometimes problems with VST plugins, although that problem is solved in the latest version I think.

I think Max looks interesting but it might be a bit more accessible if it had a user library like Reaktor does. The Reaktor user library makes it very easy not just to find the sort of instruments and effects you need but to learn how to make your own.
Max has THE best documentation I have ever seen in an app. Every module and external that comes with it has a help file that is actually a patch you can open in max and see how it works while reading about it in the reference or tutorial manual.
In my experience Max is not very stable.
Rock Solid here :)

Seconded, on both counts. Amazing how self-referential Max is. Most of Max is built in Max (including most of the help). Crazy.

One thing I forgot to mention; I'm not sure if Max can do feedback paths. The impression I get from what I know so far is that it can't, but there's probably some sort of workaround that I'm not clever enough to understand.

Post

fxe, what version do you use? In general Max is seen as unstable. Oh, and it uses Pace. Maybe that is the problem.

Post

max both sounds and seem to do just fine imo, tho i'm not gonna dive into it. i got enough stuff to use already.

but u never know..

this just came out, looks interesting:

Hi Lance Vance..there is also the wondeful Analogue Box from Andyware which will let you do alot of crazy stuff and there is a big library to get going with and modify...it also supports vsti's,one of my favourites is shafting the vsti controllers with Abox circuitry for all manner of glitching and seizures...you can do bucket loads with it  http://www.andyware.com/

Try running them all at the same time. :hihi: :hihi: :hihi: Open up Reaktor inside ABox then wire in Max/Msp to Abox....just make sure you have a shrink on standby :-o
