Just borrowed this off me girlfriend.

What a record - like a cross between Joy Division and the Chameleons

Lyrics a nonsense rubbish, but the music is brilliant, very bass heavy with that shimmering guitar sound of 4AD bands/Durutti Column/Factory Records

This is their second record, anybody have views on the first

Or even on the band in general?

Shock of Daylight is a 6-track Mini-LP of sheer brilliance. It comes on the same CD as Heads & Hearts, all remastered. I have that CD as well as From the Lion's Mouth and I think that the former is much better, although I should point out that I had the former two on vinyl for many years and only bought the latter recently when I got the other CD.

I hadn't listened to Shock of Daylight for years and years [no turntable] but I could sing along with every track immediately. I love that record.

I veeeerrry vaguely remember them. Seems they were on the Statik lable (with The Chameleons) for a while. I would love to hear some of it, but haven't been able to download anything (even an mp3 preview).

I only found out tha tall their stuff had finally been reissued on CD because somebody mentioned it here. Googling for "the sound" is not a very fruitful exercise, as I'm sure you can imagine.

their music is fantastic, one of my fave bands ever !

It sounds like a Rickenbacker to me. Those basses sound awesome and, for some strange reason, I can actually tell the difference.

hi bones,

no I think he just played a fender actually, but he had a unique style for sure...
it seems his hands sometimes bled from playing during shows, yep the band were dedicated allright,
too bad things never worked out for them
