Welcome to Kvr fresh101.

The Cher Vocal effect was done using a vocoder- check sound on sound magazine's website, and do a search for Cher+Believe, and you'll see an interview with the engineer...

Post

does it has to be expensive vocoder?

can we mimic it at the freebies level

Post

It was a Digitech Talker.

but pleeaase don´t simulate that kinda processing...I´m shure your voice sounds much better without it..this cher-thing is soo overdone, brrrr getting negative goosepimpels here.. :hihi: sorry for my softranting but I really hate this vocalprocessing..

peace! :hihi:

This effect was done with a DigiTech Talker. It can be recreated by using something like a vocoder or Antares Auto-Tune. I don't recommend using this effects on vocals like they did with Cher's song again. If you plan on doing something like it, make it very subtle...you know...kind of here and there.

I used Auto-Tune on parts of the vocal in my remix of Cami's 'Never Again': Cami - Never Again (Acidic Reality Mix) http://www.soundclick.com/cami.

it sounded good when the single came out. it was the signature of the song, which explained #1 top hit single at the time.

There's been a lot of debate about this here...

I tried a Digitech Talker a while ago - nice effect - but personally I think it was autotune on Cher's track.

man why does anyne want that effect? I have done it with AA's pitch corrector, slow attack (or delayed attack)if I remember right, and a noticable pitch change. I did it by accident, god I hate that sound....

Is this the most sought after vocal effect ever at KVR :o

Is it possible to convert normal, in-tune singing to yodling with the same effect plug-ins? Could someone write a tutorial on that?

Actually Cher's vocal acrobatics are entirely a function of those tight clothes she wears. Years ago she had the latest acoustically modelled wardrobe designed for her. She can now emulate any wedgie she desires and morph between that elusive knicker elastic up the creek sound and a full frontal boob squashing chest compression sound in anything from 0.4 ms to 1 minute.

G-Force helped design it. (Apparently Fire Sledge had a personal hand in it). Thats why the Minimonsta took so long (took a while to get it out again)
