Actually I haven't done an A/B comparison of ConvoBoy against anything else. I'll try to do that sometime soon ... does anyone else have any experience with ConvoBoy v. SIR?JeffSanders wrote:btw - Good question. I've heard plenty of people say Pristine Space is noticeably "cleaner" sounding than SIR.
How about ConvoBoy?
Yes I do believe Pristine Space is more, well, pristine sounding than SIR. In fact it seems much nicer sounding than any convolution engine I've heavily used, but that basically extends to SIR and Sonic Foundry's old Acoustic Mirror.

I use ConvoBoy in real time in some applications and SIR destructively in others. I've not noticed any difference in sound quality between the two, but since I use them differently I can't give you a precise answer.

I should also point out that I've only ever used the trial version of ConvoBoy, so if there is any difference between the trial and full versions in regards to sound quality, I cannot comment.

A discussion with respect to quality of convolution can be found at:

Thanks Darrell for using 'Convo Boy' in your manual.
There is now a link to your site on my web page.
I will be updating 'Convo Boy', including the FREE version, within a day or two.
I fixed a bug which (when using the Cakewalk VST-DX Wrapper) caused SONAR to crash when 'Convo Boy' was saved and reloaded in a project. I'm happy to say that this update should now work fully with Cakewalk's own VST-DX wrapper.

Is there going to be a "bundle" including all 3 impulse discks available? I bought "spectral relativity" and would like to buy the other two. I know they are well priced already but with my luck as soon as I get them, there is always a better deal. PM me if there is. Thanks.

lsd; if you own one, you get a discount on each of the other two, I believe...

Yes there is, although I'm not certain of the timing. The trick to the 3-product collection is that it will actually be released on a single DVD-ROM and there will not be a downloadable version (the amount of data is just too crazy for download). So anyway I have to come up with the full DVD product, which will take me a bit of time.lsd wrote:Is there going to be a "bundle" including all 3 impulse discks available? In the meantime, it has always been our policy that existing customers get a substantial discount on all purchases, which helps bring the total price on all 3 products down significantly.

Absolutely, as long as you and the giver aren't both claiming the existing customer discount, it's all good. And in your case, the giver already owns other products so there's no conflict whatsoever.vurt wrote:does that apply if the bundle you own was a gift?

Convo Boy adds half the latency SIR does. It also seems more stable on my system than SIR. It's response to overly-large input signals also seems more graceful than SIR, because SIR would sometimes crash under these conditions on my system.mmcgrath wrote:does anyone have experience with both Convo Boy and SIR?
As for features, Convo Boy and SIR both have some features the other one doesn't. You really should try the demo version of Convo Boy yourself, to decide if you like the different assortment of features more than SIR.
As for audio quality, both are good, and they're both worth far more than the asking price. (Don't tell the developers.)
take care,
