Cubase Audio problem

This is probably dead simple but I haven't worked out how to do it so... how do you alter the volume of specific audio in Cubase? How for instance could you change the volume of a certain "chunk" of audio? And also how do you do it in degrees, such as fade in and fade outs? Any help much taken with much gratitude. Lastly do the same rules apply for panning?

Thanks!

i think you can alter volume and pan of audio "parts" in the intern audio-editor. just double-click on a "part" to open it. here you can adjust the volume and make fade-in and outs. don´t know aboutpanning...

Page 175 of the "getting started manual". The simplest way to do fade-in or fade-out is by moving the handles at the top of the event you want to apply the effect to in the arrange window.
If you can't beat your computer at chess, try kick-boxing.

select the part you want - there are 3 blue boxes along the top of it - the middle one puts volume up and down - the ones at either end are fade in and fade out - just drag them and watch cubase redraw them
alas panning is nowhere near as smoothly handled - time for automation in the mixer of other alternatives - read the manual im afriad as this is rather too complex to explain here (it's not complex mind it would just take me ages to explain)

hmm, thanks for the replies people, but i'm not sure about handles or blue boxes... I'm using Cubase SX V 2.0?

I mucked about in the audio editor for a while but no love. I also checked out pages 175 of the getting started manual, but in my version it was all midi. The audio section wasn't any obvious use either.

Thanks for the help though!

As far as I know, this function returned only in SX3. It was available in VST5.

I am missing this a lot, too (SX 2).

that seems mad, there must be some way to do this?

Someone with SX 2 must know?

The next simplest solution (curious about blue dots in SX 2 too BTW) just automate the volume fader for that track. You should be able to tie the automation to the clip, so the fading moves if you move the clip around.

well it was in SL1... So it would be very strange if it wasn't in SX2 :? ... Looks just like what Hellbilly posted

You can also automate the slider for the given channel.

Just click the W button and move the slider as needed whilst playing.. and click the R button on playback. You can then edit this automation in the main project window

It's supposed to be in sx2, check page 166 of the operation manual. It should be as simple as selecting the audio event and dragging the blue squares .

Make sure you're parts aren't 'glued' together. In this case, if you double click the audio part, they will be available in the 'audio part editor'. Otherwise, it's definetely there... just click your audio region and they will appear automatically.
